PS3 Rebug CFW!!! [Archive] - Retrogaming Roundtable

I have just recently installed the latest version of Codename: Rebug's CFW 3.55 on my Retail PS3!!

It is the Rebug Firmware, that essentially turns a Retail Console into a Debugging Station without the ability to downgrade!!

Has anyone had any dealings with this??
And if so what is it used for??
And how do you use the features of it??

Why'd you install it if you don't know what it does? Especially if this firmware somehow prevents you from getting rid of it down the road if they decided you didn't want it (I assume that's what you meant when you said it can't be downgraded)?

Or are you asking what everyone else is doing with their own installation of it, just out of curiousity?

I mainly installed it to have a play with it!!

No I meant that a Debug Unit can Downgrade as a standard feature of the unit, where as the Rebug software doesn't allow that without a dongle, (but I'm on 3.55 so that's not possible anyways)!!

I can re-flash it back to OFW whenever I want!!

What is it exactly you want to do with this firmware? As dev hardware goes, the PS3 debugger isn't all that useful, you really need the SDK tools to go with it.

I don't know how close it really is to a real debugger, but you should be able to swap in and out of debug mode using some combination of power and eject button
