Hey guys, I bought a PSP 3000 the other day. I really love it, but I've noticed something I don't think is right with the screen. When the screen goes completely black, there's a weird lighter than black area that covers most of the outer part of the screen. Before I take it back, I want to make this this is some sort of problem with my particular PSP and not all the 3000 models. I tried my best to take a picture of it and this was the best I could manage.

So yeah, is this normal? A way to correct it in the options? It seems almost patterned. There's nothing wrong with the screen otherwise. Thanks for any help.

Looks like somebody applied a screen protector poorly with lots of air around the edges.

Did you buy the PSP new or used?

If you bought it new did you remove the screen guard?

While I haven't opened my PSP 3000 I'd return it. Looks like a defect.

My 2000 is like that, but nothing as visible as that. Only time I ever notice it is when the screen is completely dark, I thought I heard it had to do with the backlight.

My 2000 model is also only like that when the screen goes completely black and barely noticeable. Can't see it at all during gameplay.

I have the same thing as you but the area is more small than you.
I have a PSP 3000 too.

I've never seen it myself, but I've read about a very common problem around the edges of 3000 screen. I believe it is very common on 3000s made before oct '10(?) and absent on those made after. Sony does not consider it a defect, but rather 'normal'.

The music fits the seriousness of the issue.

Hah! I didn't actually have the sound on when I found that. Funny.
