View Full Version : Favorite Street Fighter Characters You Aren't Good At?

I've been playing a lot of the 3DS version of Super Street Fighter IV and I've noticed that most people stay with the same small set of fighters instead of having a more even distribution among the character picks. Lots of Ryus, lots of Akumas, plenty of Kens, some Sakuras, a few Juris and Ibukis, and the rare Cody, Abel, and Dudley. 8 out of 35 is pretty low, really, and I imagine that it has to do with a combination of difficult to perform moves, difficult to handle play styles, balancing issues, and the inertia of tradition.

So my question to the greater DP community is, "Which characters do you like but you don't normally play as or are good as?"

I know some might see this as a silly answer, but my answer is Dan Hibiki. I know he is a "joke character" and all, but his silly, over-the-top expressions and parody nature endear me to the character of Dan.

I can use just about anyone, but I never win with Crimson Viper.

Ditto Viper in 4: she's exceptionally hard to use properly. Also SFIV Ibuki: I haven't (and probably won't) spent the time to get her vortex down, and she NEEDS that to win. Whenever she comes up I try and play her like she plays in 3S, and it usually ends with me picking someone else.

In 3S, I've always loved Q, but he sucks. Unless your name is Kuroda. I've put a little time into him, but it doesn't matter: he's fun, but if I pick Q, I'm going to get bodied.

I spent a lot of time mastering Dan in Alpha 3 and even maxed him out in World Tour mode, he takes a long time to work out but is still one of my favorite characters to use, people tend to be off guard when you pick Dan and the look on peoples faces when the have been smashed with Dan is priceless.

I find he has a good move set that seems to counter every character in one way or another and mix that with his qcb qcb and kick super(level 32 dan in World Tour mode does more damage with this super then a Shin Akuma Raging Demon) is pretty lethal pulled off at the right time.

Anywhoo the character in all of the SF's Ive never really been able to master is of course Zangief, not in any version, I just don't seem to be able to "get" him.

This right here. I bought this game for 360 and I still can not do one combo. I don't even know why. In fact I don't even completely understand the diagrams for the moves, lol. That game is pretty rough.

Allen... I don't even know how to explain. I think since I got him as a hidden character in EX and from there I enjoyed losing many times with him.

Dhalsim and Balrog. And I don't know half of the fighters mentioned in this thread because I've pretty much only played classic SFII.

You guys had me lost. I opened the thread and I thought someone was talking about DragonBall Z. Too many damn characters.

I'm no good with guy from alpha 2 Cody from alpha 3 and I suck with haggar from mvc3. What sucks I really really want to be good with at least one of these ff characters . Guy is the worst though, his jumps are to far or somethin.

From what I've played of these three, I'd recommend you stay with Cody. His rock-throw attack is executed the same as a hadouken and he has other moves that aren't difficult to learn. Just consult your game's manual or in-game move guide and keep practicing! :)

(And as for the rest of you guys who say you haven't heard of most of these characters... where have you been? Only seven characters - Abel, Crimson Viper, Rufus, El Fuerte, Gouken, Juri, and Hakan - are new playable characters. All of the other twenty-eight chacters premiered in either Street Fighter I, II, III, or Alpha.)

All of them because I am so bad at this game. I played street fighters 2 for xbox 360 and have an 0 and 24 recorded. I was good at the game boy advance but can't pull of and of the combo moves or special attacks.

Hmm. Depends on your definition of "good" is :P

As an avid Street Fighter player, I can use pretty much every character, and the characters that I don't know the basic combos/strategy of at the top of my head are pretty much characters I have absolutely no interest in learning, such as Ibuki or Blanka. However, I know enough about the game and fundamentals to at least put up a fight with them.

However, one guy actually came to mind, and ironically, it's Guy. I've always loved Guy's character, but whether it's Street Fighter Alpha 3 or Super Street Fighter IV, it just does not click with me. I know his combos and strategy, but I'm just no good with the guy. Always loved his style though. Also, I've been meaning to get better with Dudley, which is another character who I think is really cool.

Finally, I'd love to be able to play Ryu at the level of Daigo :P

All of them? :) Strange because I want to like fighting games but I mostly suck at them.

I know the feeling - fighting games aren't the most welcoming of games for people who won't or can't spend the time learning them or don't have fast reflexes, but they hold an appeal to where you want to play them anyway. :)

I love playing as Sagat, however, I completely suck using him. (I tried to remove any potential innuendo from this post)
