Don't know if it's been posted, but I stumbled upon this.

Pretty awesome, although I'm fairly certain it overheats. Also, can't help it. A part of me cringes every time I see any NES cart or console multilated/modified/destroyed no matter how awesome the change is. A silly thought, but it makes me feel like we're losing them :(

**EDIT**
Don't mean to derail my own thread, but anyone know the name of the first song in this video. It's been stuck in my head, really catchy.

I think it's a cute mod. Don't see any reason to fear over heating unless they plan to keep it powered up for days at a time. Then again, I'd say it's one of the more portable mods I've seen for the system. Kinda wish I had one myself.

It's the title screen music to the excellent Trip World (GB) by Sunsoft.

That's pretty cool. You could probably stick it in your pocket and play it at a friend's house if you wanted to.

That is a nice setup. The first thing I thought of when I saw it was, if all my systems were that size I could save a lot of space!

I also thought about the cartridge issue as well. I like Super Mario Brothers, so every time I see one that is damaged or destroyed, it makes me feel bad. Now if it was a game like, say, NFL football, or something like that...

Pretty awesome, although I'm fairly certain it overheats.

That's highly unlikely. The NES and Famiclone motherboards require just 5v for operation, and some have power supplies that provide just that. If this modded system is powered by a 9v, then it'd have a voltage regulator somewhere tucked in there that would get slightly warm after being on for an hour or so, but it's nothing that would overheat the console.

The reason hacks like this are possible is because they're all very low power devices and heatsinks weren't a consideration.
