I went to the flea market today to sell some PS1 and PS2 games. I had about 100 after the huge Office Depot sale, and I wanted to cash them all in. I managed to sell them all for $480 to one guy, so I was already psyched enough as it was. I made a couple hundred on that deal alone. My finds before that though had me even more geeked:

-16 Boxed Odyssey 2 games for $15 (no Power Lords, but plenty of good stuff. Most came with manuals)
-Metroid w/ manual for $3 (i've got plenty, but one more couldn't hurt)
-Loose Tooth Protectors for $10 (The guy wanted to sell his 12 common games for $35. He really really didn't want to break it up. I was like "dude, I'll give you $10 for just one :-D )

What makes this deal even more sweet is that I don't collect Odyssey stuff and I'm not heavily into Atari. I've definitely got some awesome trade bait now. PM me if you're interested.

After I had made my $480 killing on the Playstation stuff, I went to another video game guy and found plenty of decent sutff at his booth:

-Complete Castlevania 3--$3
-Loose NES Joust--$3
-Complete Timon & Pumba SNES--$5
-Complete Clue SNES--$5
-Complete Tom & Jerry SNES--$5
-Complete Jeopardy for Gen-$2
-Complete Lightning Force for Gen--$2

So I was definitely geeked. I had made a ton of awesome finds, and had plenty more cash to spare. I stopped at a couple garage sales, where I made the best find of the day. I saw a box on the ground with unopened boxes of baseball cards inside. The set just happened to be 1987 Donruss, which has Barry Bonds, Mark McGwire, Barry Larkin, and Greg Maddux rookies in it. I don't even collect baseball cards, but that little bit of information was stuck in my head from my childhood. All 15 boxes they had were $2 a piece, so needless to say I bought them all. I'll make an easy couple hundred for those.

Also, on the way home, the last garage sale had a couple loose vintage Star Wars figures for $.50 a piece, as well as a couple M.A.S.K. guys for $.25. That topped off the best garage sale/flea market day I've ever had in my life. Has anyone done better than that though? And how long did it take you to come down from the high? I'm gonna be smiling for weeks. :D

I actually got this stuff from Dixie Land in Waterford. For those of us that have been there, it really isn't anything special. I'm there about once a week though, I put a lot of effort into finding stuff there. The effort finally paid off, as I was there on the right day at the right time. That goes to show that there really are different people out in the parking lot occasionally. My previous best find at Dixie Land was a boxed 3DO, I sure blew that out of the water.

As far as how much Tooth Protectors is worth, I'm not really sure. Past eBay auctions show one that went for $150, but the reserve wasn't met. He's reposted the auction, and it ends sometime tomorrow, and it's already at $150. Not a bad find for $10. Thats a good question I'm curious about myself though, for you Atari experts, how much do these normally go for? Compare it to something I'd understand better (like NES games) in terms of rarity. Once I go to the bank, I swear I'm buying a DP guide finally!

Yea, I need to buy one also, but I am just going to wait for the newest book instead of buying the old one.

15 wax boxes (36 packs per box, right?) of 1987 Donruss for $2 a piece? Awesome! :)

you had a great day, but isn't $480 very cheap for about 100 ps1/ps2 games??? if u would have sold them on ebay you would have made a lot more money imho

I probably would have made more money on eBay, but not very much more. The majority of the PS1 games were the budget/late release titles, and from the past auctions I was looking at, it looked like I'd only be getting $4 or $5 a game. I sold all 72 PS1 games for $4 a piece to this guy. The PS2 games that I had were only worth about $10 a piece on eBay, but I didn't feel like turning down his offer of $8 a piece for what I had. If you consider how much I would have had to spend on eBay fees and bubble mailers, as well as all the hassle, I think dropping them for $480 wasn't a bad idea. I only spent $300 or so, so I did good. :D

And yes, these boxes of Donruss '87 each have 36 packs. Thats 540 total packs. If you go into any card store, you'll probably pay as much for a pack as I did for each box. :o

I have in fact had days that good. The cherry on top is Tooth Protectors. That's a find of the year for a 2600 collector. I have a few friends who have, too. << eases back into lazy boy and lights pipe >> "But, they are few and far between, my boys."

Congrats! That will keep you hunting indefinitely- the desire to regain past days of glory!

you know that 72*4+28*8 is NOT 480? O_O

you didn't say that you only had 28 ps2 games in the lot, but 8 per PS2 game is really not much, i would have sold the ps1 games to the guy and put the ps2 games on ebay i think that could have given you about $650

These PS2 games were pretty much all crap though. Stuff like Eternal Ring and Jonny Moseley Mad Tricks. I might have been able to make a dollar or two more on some of them, but that's not worth all the effort or the eBay fees. I paid $5 for most of the PS2 games, and $4 for some of the others. I'm completely satisfied with what I got. :D

I've had a pretty good month as far as collecting goes, but no where clos to what you just had. As long as I keep up the steady pace that I have right now I really wouldn't mind much. Congrats.

I would have done the same thing Hitman. You may have been able to get more on eBay, but then again maybe not. But being able to get rid of it all in one go totally makes it worth it.
