View Full Version : CORGS-CON 2011 (Columbus, OH) ... Happening?

This looks like maybe the best place to ask, because I would make the case that their web site is not!

CORGS-CON 2010 was a fun little retro game event and buy/sell/trade show, and I am hoping they do it again this year. They said on their site they were in May or June, but they haven't said when or where.

So, I bring it to the digitpress masses ... Anyone know if this is happening?

Been checking myself lately and agree that it is an unknown.

Planning to attend to Clevland Show. I've gone the last two years and have had fun.

I of course was clueless to the Cincinnati show which is 25 minutes from me. Did not even know of this Arcade Legacy (arcade, game store, etc.). Looks like it will get a visit very soon. I believe they are hosting the event with the notion of making it annual. It's from the 24th to the 26th? Three day convention seems implausible around here...

Thanks for the heads up...

I live 25 minutes from Arcade Legacy as well and have never attended. I'll go to the Cincy show, for networking purposes if nothing else. You never know what kind of people you are going to run into.

arcade legacy is a nice little place. ten bucks for unlimited arcade play, and the store has a nice selection of games too. the owner is a nice guy, i hope for his continued success.

It's been awhile since I've hit the game stores in Cincy/Dayton. I might set a day aside this weekend to do a sweep of the game stores and thrifts. Last time I did Dayton I ended up finding the turntable I am currently listening to.

I'll be there if I can get the day off.

9 AM seems early. Not for me, but I suspect some of the sellers won't make until 10-11...

I will also be attending again this year. I had a good time last year and found some games I needed to add to my collection.

Which game stores should I visit in Columbus (or area) while I am there. I will try to stop at Video Games Express in Grove City (I assume it is still there), but where else should I go? Is Westpointe Video Games open again? Thanks...

Play It! on 4316 N High St in Clintonville is my favorite place in the city. They have some pretty cool stuff. The campus one moved to Sawmill.

Super game team is in grandview. Ok guys, okish selection, but super high prices especially on systems.

TechNGamer is ok, but semi shady and the stuff is occasionally of low quality/poor condition.

Play it trade it has (at least clintonville) has seemed to move away from classic/retro games and has less and less selection every time im in there.

Went and it was good. No brat-mobile!!!!?

Anyways, odd location but it worked out great. I think the directions could have been clearer, but I made it.

Anyways...'Thong Girl', can someone explain it to me. Thanks.

That game was not only not so good but the presentation was also not the best. I'm all for small development but a quality game works much better.

i had my little table by the door in the front room, and after deducting all of my purchases i made a nice little profit

thanks to everyone that stopped by and looked though my small bins.

back to the previous page, westpoint video games was shut down by the feds for tax evasion and selling stolen goods

Calistarwind beat me to the punch, we were in that front area too chatting it up all day and enjoying the traffic. Thanks again on the awesome price on Marvel vs. Capcom 2 DC import, looking forward to getting it into my DC system to play (and did find the boot disc after all).

The show actually was quite good. Definitely had more of a market feel to it than previous shows have, and the quality of the items that were there was a notch up from where it had been in previous years. I do wish there was a little more organization with doing tournaments or gameplay (outside of "Thong Girl", we'll get to that in a minute), but those are very minor gripes in a case where it was still a very good time.

As for that game? Yeah, it was weird at best, and way off at worst. Yes, they said it was a beta version of it, but the collision detection was way off, you could never tell if you were walking, flying, whatever, and the concept was whack from the get go. I applaud the effort, but I'm left scratching my head about it.

Other props:

VGMX for lowering all their stuff by half price near the end, got a $20 Saturn out of that, which was awesome.

Carlton for having some unique items I picked up.

Calistarwind (and husband) coming up to hang out, very much enjoyed the company.

CORGS for putting it on ... now please, go install Wordpress, I'll even host if you'd like.

Chris: Definitely let me know when you're doing a get together up here in the C-Bus. I'll have to tell some of the stories of when I was helping Westpointe as their IT consultant dude just last year. Kinda glad they ran out of stuff for me to do in October, considering what went down in December! Let's just say, stuff I saw makes sense now.
