My Playstation 2 has been acting extremely weird. It has been scratching the discs like an Xbox 360 has. This has happened due to playing the games. The console did take a hard fall onto the wood floor in the past. I don't know if any physical damage or sharp pieces are causing this? What do you guys think?

Is it a PS2 slim, or a PS2 fat?

Where on the disc are they getting scratched? Is it towards the center or close to the edge?

Also how do you have your console setting? Is it laying down flat or standing up?

They are getting scratches like rings around the whole entire disc, kind of similar to what the Xbox 360 does when moved. It is sitting flat.

More than likely the disc drive arm was damaged, this lifts the disc up off the tray and connects it to the top via a magnet. I would say that it's not lifting it up high enough to clear the disc tray, or the arm or the tray itself is bent. You could try standing the console up, if it still scratches your discs, try turning the console completely over on it's top, but make sure you put the game in on the browser screen then flip the console over, and turn the console off before turning it back over, and DO NOT press the disc eject button while it's upside down or you could get you disc stuck in the drive and have to take the console apart to get it out or it could damage something. If this doesn't work then it's either a foreign object in the disc tray or the arm is bent or disc tray is screwed up from the fall.

Thanks for your help. I found out that the arm was bent. It is now fixed and it doesn't scratch any discs.
