I've noticed the techniques you use to appraise other stuff doesn't necessarily apply to games.

For instance, you would think answering yes to questions like this would make the game more valuable:

-Does the game feature a recognizable character?
-What's the game's pedigree? Did someone like Hideo Kojima make the game?
-Was it a port of an arcade game?
-Was it a port from another system?

Appraiser of antiques would ask questions like this, but this doesn't always relate to a higher price of the game.

So what tools/questions should we ask when appraising games, besides the obvious, condition, completeness, etc.?

Rarity and Demand are the two biggest factors from what I've learned.
