3DO broke....help

My 3DO has stopped reading the disc.

anyone know where i can get info about how to fix it?

or, is there someone who does repairs?

I think this should be in the technical forum, but I will reply to this. First open the system up to see if the laser actually moves (seeks). Second if not, check the cables to see if they have become loose. Third, loosen a small screw that houses the CD motor for moving the lens. Most of the time, there will be a crack in the white cog/gear mechanism. Replace that gear or loosen the housing by removing one of the screws or loosen both up.

Start with that if you don't have any problems opening such things up. I've seen broken cogs get replaced though it can be really tricky to find an exact replacement without measuring the existing cog extensively.

If the laser doesn't move it could easily be something in need of adjustment, greasing, replacement, etc.

Though I can probably fix the issue if you can't find the problem yourself.
