I always thought that the best way to clean cartridge games was with a Q-Tip and some rubbing alcohol.
But on the back of old NES carts, it warns specifically against doing this. What is the best way to clean old carts? Especially Genesis and Super Nintendo ones?

I have a model 1 Sega Genesis. The one with the headphone jack on the front. I use a headphone splitter thing that takes the headphone signal and converts it to regular audio RCA plugs. The red and white audio plugs. This seems to give true stereo sound.
Is this true stereo sound?
All of the audio/video cables that I've seen for the genesis, just have one yellow plug for composite video, and one white plug for mono audio. So the only way I know of getting true stereo sound from the genny, is to use the headphone jack on the model 1 unit.
For the model 2 and model 3 genesis's is there any way to get TRUE stereo sound without an internal modification?

I don't know how that happened. They were supposed to be two different threads. Oh, well.

When I clean my games I always use an eraser to get off the crud that is on the contacts first, then I use Isopropal alcohol with a cotton swab to clean it up a but more.
You can use alcohol on the contacts of games. Nintendo just put that on the back so you would have to buy their cleaning kits... which contains... alcohol...
