Yes. You can even replace the 3' SFC cable with a 6' SNES cable. The only real difference between the two are the Y and X buttons being concave vs convex.

Yep, never had problems with mine.
The only ones that didn't work for me are the Acclaim wireless controllers, the receiver is shaped to fit in the console and the one I have only works for the original model.
