I was trying to region mod my model 1 genesis and basically I got some contacts linked up that I don't want linked up. Is there a special way to clean up something like this or is it one go? It would be easier if I can find an iron that had a tip that got hot enough damnit.

Get some desoldering braid, put it on the bad solder joint, heat up with the iron, and the braid will suck away the solder. Just watch what you're doing with the it, or you may need to RESOLDER stuff, if you suck solder away from something that should have had solder. You can get the braid at Radio Shack: http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2062744 , though that stuff kinda sucks. It should work well enough for your needs, but if you can find some good stuff like NTE, get that instead (if you have a Microcenter near you: http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?product_id=0206748 ).

You should also clean the tip of your iron... if you've got a dirty iron with a bunch of old solder on it, you'll make a mess. If you have some flux, adding a little bit of that to the solder you're trying to clean up will make it flow better and glob less.

Ok, sweet, I thought i was screwed. Ya I kept trying to wipe it off but I was stuck using the side the tip and it was the very last wire and I thought I was going to get it perfect. Damn, it's rough though. Thanks.
