Amiga CD32 dead disc drive

So, my CD32, after working fine for a few months, has freakishly and spontaneously stopped working.

When I turn it on, the bios screen comes up without a problem. When I close the disk door you can hear the lazer moving but discs don't spin.

I contacted Old School Gamer about this but he felt he couldn't reliably repair it due to lack of experience with the machine.

Any suggestions?

Clean the laser lens is always a first good starting point.

Then check to see if its firing.

easy to replace i have a spare drive
while your there check all your caps out i have on mine some needs replaceing.
