What do you think? How are they? Do they work OK? I've got a pair of Sega maracas and they work awesome. But I'd like to get a 2nd pair as well. I've found a pair of 3rd party maracas for $35, but are they worth it?

This is a good question and I hope somebody knows. I have seen the 3rd party ones on Ebay and for sale at Lil'Sang (is that the name?) the Hong Kong store. Anyway, I would like to buy two samba sets for two player action and obviously getting two original sets would be big $$, but I really wonder about the quality of the 3rd party ones - hmmm!

I bought a pair of the ChaCha maracas, which worked great for a couple of months, then out of the blue, one maraca stopped working and would continually register as shaking low. I've heard similar tales from others aswell.
btw, If anyone has any suggestions for fixing this, I'd love to hear them.

I had the Cha Cha ones also. And, like posted above, they worked great for a few months and then they were no longer responsive. I've been thinking of picking up new ones for a while, but am too cheap to spend the money on the Sega ones...

It's funny, I never see Maracas resale. Everyone must be clinging to them. First Sega set I see for less than $40 I should gobble up, though only with a return policy. They seem fragile enough...
I have two Sega sets, one Jap and one US. And the Jap one I sometimes have to tap the floor part of the controller with my foot to snap it back into consciousness while playing. Weird!
They cost $75 when they came out- $100 isn't that much of a mark up.

And if so, I'll be happy to take those maracas off your hands. :-D
So the consensus seems to be: TEH CHA CHAS = TEH SUXx0R

I've heard the EMS version are superior to Sega's. 3D hit detection etc, although they might have a tendency to break, there is an easy fix for it. I think you can just glue the sensor on the inside to it doesn't come loose which is sometimes the problem.
You can get them at Play-asia or lik-sang. Or directly from EMS.
You want the RED version of the Maracas, not the BLUE.

What's the difference (other than the color)?
