Atari 5200 voltage input limits?

OK so I have an extra Atari 5200 console that I'm really trying to find a cheap power supply for locally so I don't have to pay shipping costs (want to sell it without dumping too much cash into getting it completely working). It is the two port system and I know that it generally takes a 9v 1.95 amp supply, a FAQ in DP's archives said that the original 12v supply from the four port will work fine and that the system's regulators will handle it. I saw a power supply that was 13v 4 amps at Goodwill today, is that too much voltage for the system or can I squeeze buy with that one? Would be nice, I didn't buy it yet just in case it is too much for the system and since it was $6.99.

Any advice?

These guys seem to think it takes 11.5v. I wouldn't risk putting in more than you can confirm to be safe unless the 5200 has a voltage regulator inside that can handle more than 11.5v. The 7805 regulator seen in a lot of electronics only takes up to about 12v, slightly more if you want to push things.

7805s typically can take up to 35V input. The limiting factor would be heat management and the limits on components pre-regulator, like filter caps.

9-13V should be a safe range. The tricky part is finding a supply with the correctly sized connector.

I'll probably try to pick up that supply then. I'm not worried about the connector as I can solder a replacement onto it for next to no effort at all.
