Altered Beast

I have a complete Altered Beast for the Genesis, but the title screen doesn't say Altered Beast, its the one from the Japanese version. I'm guessing this is the first print of Altered Beast?? Is this worth anything

Are you sure it isn't the Japanese version? If it is possible, could you provide any pictures?

I'm fairly sure Sega in a rush had slapped Japanese chips onto early copies, and for that matter never distributed sealed copies of the North American release. I've yet to find solid confirmation whether other regions got it sealed. Nobody seems to know that I can tell.

many of the early genesis games have the us and japanese version on the cartridge, it checks on bootup which region the system is from and boots the apropriate version (streets of rage 1,2 altered beast ghouls and ghosts and revenge of shinobi are all games that do this amoung many others)


the title screen in altered beast does have the japanese symbols (kanji or whatever) in the background in both versions.

The US Streets of Rage 2 doesn't do this. Altered Beast has "Altered Beast" missing from the title in the jaan version, which is what my cart has. fyi, i am running on a us genesis.
