$85 shipped.

Model 2 comes with a controller, both A/V and power cable as well as a professionally installed modboard.

Before anyone bitches about the price, Racketboy is the only reliable source for modboards anymore and he asks $38+shipping. A Saturn will easily set you back $30-40 before shipping. This is an extremely fair price given market conditions.

Hint: Panzer Dragoon Saga will run you $150. Radiant Silvergun? Easily $100+.

I also have a second Saturn available if anyone is interested. Model 2 as well, no cables, no controllers. $25. 100% fully functional and reads CDs that should be beyond readable. - SOLD!

To say the least of the labor involved with installation, sourcing a Saturn motherboard that is compatible with the chip, etc. etc.

IMO this is a good price.

To speak of your latter point, I actually bought two Saturns in a lot with one being compatible with my mod board and the other being totally unresponsive. Aside from opening them up there is no way to tell if a Model 2 will be compatible with a given chip 100%.

Would you sell the system without the cables? I don't need them.

Power and A/V? Sure, why not. It won't lower the price much as they're incidental cost wise. Do you need the controller?

Bump. Happy to install a region mod if anyone wants one.

I suppose I'm just going to have to bear the price, and shell out with an offer a modder can't refuse to get my model 1 modded. Also getting an SMS2 soon which needs mods (I'll never find a TV with PAL RF input in the states).

Then again, if the work is THAT good... I may end up having no choice but to do fight off this oval button saturn fanboyism.

Nope. I already have a working system, two pads, S-Video cable, memory card, RAM... and two US / JP systems. :p

I'll think about it.

JP huh? That gives me an idea, a modded white saturn isn't a bad idea actually. Fits the console aesthetics I'm aiming for better.

Switchless mod for a white Saturn would allow it to effectively be region free without marring the case with holes and switches.

The possibly tougher part is finding a white Saturn in USA. Postage from Japan would kill that thought.

Is that second Saturn modded as well?

and how easy is it to track down hookup cables for this thing?

I would def be all over this if it was last year. I was spending like I had a money tree in my closet. I only have one Saturn game anyways, Import Necronomicon Digital Pinball, I would love to play it someday lol.

110% this. Modding a Saturn almost killed me... Well, not really. But I sure wanted to die after all the futzing, buying new units to try etc. Bratwurst gave me the bad news... Then he gave me one last trick to try, but even that failed. Worst breaking-in mod project ever. And they all swore it was easy! DON'T LISTEN! RUN!!! Buy this instead. Don't look back. LOL

It really is a shame it is so difficult to just source a compatible Saturn. The console may not have had much success commercially but there are some absolute gems on this thing. I really don't want to sell it but in order to pay some bills I must.

Please excuse my stupidity, but I have a region modded SS with a slip switch in the back. I got it off the boards YEARS ago. What exactly does a "chipped" SS allow you to do? What are the benefits of having such a system? I'm assuming from the discussion that it allows you to play copies, but I still don't really have a good idea of what this thing is.
Thanks,
Chris

Allows the playing of games burnt to CD-R media. Many prototypes are floating around that can't be played otherwise.
