I saw a couple of regular NES controllers that had neon yellow A&B buttons and neon orange D Pad. They looked like the couple I have, all for the buttons that is. What's up with these controllers? Did they release them this way or were these fixed by someone? I'm new to the NES scene and was looking to pick up a couple controllers cheap but these struck me as odd!

Those were from repair kits. I remember purchasing some of those years ago. They came with the different buttons and also gave you new pads for your controller. I think they used to be like $5 when they were new.

Yup, he's right. I remember needing to buy a replacment part kit from Nintendo after a few years of using my NES pads. They came in a bag with everything in bright colors. At least it was easy to install -- just unscrew the back, pop out the old parts, and pop in the new ones. Heck, for as much as I know, those controllers are still out there! :)
