I have a Sega CD model 1 which emits sound through the right channel only any time the PCM is used. Redbook CD sound is fine and goes through both channels, same with Genesis sound. It doesn't matter if I use the mixing cable or send all of the Sega-CD's audio through the Genesis, the result is the same. I assume there is likely a dead cap perhaps, but which one? I don't have a reliable way of testing caps with my multimeter.

The Sega cd board (where the expansion port connector is located) is filled with 10uf 16v smd caps that are probably dried by now (around 10 or so) ...From my personal experience these can cause all sorts of problems...You should begin by replacing those I'd say...

Is this the removable board with the 68000 that you speak of? I have another one of those boards which doesn't allow the Sega CD to boot. The screen comes up and it just freezes. That board sounds like it can cause lots of problems.
