NAVA = North Atlantic Videogame Aficionados. This is a FREE event bringing gamers together for competition, trading, and chatter.

Previously at NAVA...
- (Light) Guns were a-blazin' during the store's themed GUNS OF NAVA day.
- Mike brought his SUPERGUN. Which is a consolized arcade machine, a bit of a mad scientist's gaming option.
- The arcade challenge winner was Frankie V, who outgunned the competition in "Cheyenne".
- Games and systems traded hands between attendees who brought their own trade boxes.

Pictures tell it best!

Nothing can prepare you for this NAVA. Because that's the tag line of from a franchise that's returned from several years' hiatus and in its first appearance on this era of consoles. Have you guessed it yet? Right. We'll have various forms of Mortal Kombat for play around the store, including the latest version on 360. You might even get. If you look hard enough, you might even get your hands on the incredibly unlikely R-Zone version of the game. And then again, you might simply choose to look AWAY instead.

Arcade challenge! Let's see who can hold the longest consecutive win streak in the original arcade version of "Mortal Kombat". The person who logs in the highest score by 8pm will get a $20 gift certificate for the Digital Press store and will be added to the new "house champion" tournament plaque on the Wall of Fame just above the arcade section of the store. Arcade challenge games are set to FREE PLAY all day. Get your practicing in now!

Get your trade boxes in order and remember to wear your NAVA t-shirt to get the maximum discount on purchases... it's NAVA time!

Would you mind if I bring an Atari 2600 game to test out?

I have an Atari 2600 game being released at the TooManyGames show next month and I loaned out my Atari to someone else making me something!

Yeah, but you're an hour drive for me. I figure if I come up it should be really worth the trip. :D

I'll try to get a friend or two to come up with me.

I didn't say there WOULDN'T be a tournament, in fact I'm sure we'll have one at 6pm, but I'm torn between having and old-school (like MK2 or MK3U) tourney or the newer MK9. I'll end up deciding at the last minute so it will remain "TBA".

Maybe we could do some kind of crazy double bracket Retro Vs. Classic tournament with the 1st round being on the the new MK game and the 2nd round being on a classic version like MK II?

That would really test the mettle of NAVA regulars and help weed out the tournament winners that typically go strong with the modern stuff but don't weather the classics as well.

I should be there tomorrow. I am visiting my dad who lives on NJ this weekend. If I can't stay the entire time what is the prime time to be there and get to meet everyone?

Tournaments usually start around 6PM.

The core gang is usually all there between 3-5PM.

Frankie I love GARRET IN YOUR AVY :)

It was so awesome to be able to come back to another NAVA after like a year, I've been so busy with college and work it's been impossible to make it down, but seeing and meeting everyone again felt so good. I'll def. be there next month. Here's to a NBA Jam tourney... or maybe even a... Dylan Toomey The Game tournament?

Garrett AKA Fruit Snax, AKA Fruity Loops, AKA Fruit Stripes Flavored Gum.

He's as awesome as he is tall, and he is very tall.

Any idea when the next one of these might happen? I recently put my stuff on Backloggery, and am weeding through some games that I realize to myself at this point I have no intentions of ever really playing (in what mythical world did I think I'd have time for all these long JRPGs?).

I live about 2-3 hours away, and haven't ever visited the DP store, so I'd like to do this - but might need a bit more than 5 days to plan to come...

All signs point to the last Saturday of this month.

At 2-3 hours away, it's definitely worth the trip. If you can't make it this month (whenever that may be), make sure to come to the next one.

I'm pretty sure the next one will be June 25th, but Joe will make the announcement when he gets back from E3. Word on the street is that the tournament will be THE TOURNAMENT to be at this year. 4 players at the same time, all out battles! Does that interest you?

I've never been a huge fan of fighting games; one of the things I'm looking to get rid of is the KoF Collection for PS2 that I've never even taken out of the shrinkwrap - and realize now that I probably never will.

The "competition" games I usually enjoy are FPS (with WASD + mouse, not with a gamepad), kart / racing stuff is OK, and I like the unusual ones - Pac Man Vs., Wario Mega Party Games, etc.

Really I'm largely interested in actually making it out to the store and seeing the great "mecca" of gaming goodness, and getting rid of a few things so my Backloggery.com percentage isn't quite so abysmal. Someone should get some enjoyment out of these games, even if I won't.

If you're referring to my post about the tournament by saying that you are not a fan of fighting games, I will simply say that I never said it was a fighting game. Intrigued? You should be. This next NAVA will be the NAVA to attend!!!!
