I recently acquired a new to me famicom game and when I went to try it out it wouldn't work. I then tried one of my previous tested games and no dice. I recently changed out my 72 pin connector so that shouldn't be an issue. However I have never used the adapter in my front loader only in my now sold top loader where it worked great. All I am getting is a white flashing screen and NES games do work. Do these these burn out? Any help or input will be appreciated.

Stupid question but is the Famicom cart plugged into the adapter correctly? With Famicom games the label needs to be facing down when you put it into an NES with an adapter.

I tried the wrong way first(stupidly) and neither way works.

Clean everything - the Famicom game, both ends of the adapter, clean your NES as well. If you still have issues, blame your NES's NES10 CIC lockout.
Go in and disable that mofo by cutting pin 4. Google it for more info. An NES with a disabled NES10 is a happy NES.

I'll try the cleaning of the NES later but I did clean the games and adapter. I even gently pushed the female side pins in with a toothpick to make a tighter connection on the games.

Hmm. Flashing usually means disabling the lockout is a good option.

Yes. As I said, clean all four connectors in question and try again. If still nothing, disable your lockout chip. Its not like it does anything useful anyway.

Looks like I'll be disabling that chip after I google it and learn how to do it.

from what i understand. if the game is flashing the title screen, then yes the lockout chip should be disabled. but if its still flashing blank colors like green or something, then its still a connection issue.

It is flashing white. It worked perfect with my model 2 NES which I have since sold and I recently replaced my 72 pin connector.

This definitely sounds like a lockout chip problem then. The NES 2 did not have a lockout chip which is probably what made it work.

well disabling the lockout chip had no effect. I have got to wonder if the adapter died.
