This is more for the kids from Sega-16, but still it's a nice curiosity.

I got ahold of a Sega press pack from a friend of mine; (he has NO idea how he got it) , and from my light Googling and Wiki-ing, it's from Christmas 1993.

There are slides, and several printed press releases for magazines and newspapers.

It came in this festive Holiday Sonic folder:

The Slides are from the following games:

Sega CD:
Ecco the Dolphin
Spider-Man
Sonic CD

Genesis:
Sonic Spinball
Barney's Hide and Seek
Ren and Stimpy
Disney's Alladin
Wimbledon Tennis
NFL Football '94
Greatest Heavyweights
Activator

Game Gear:
Sonic Chaos
Tom&Jerry
Deep Duck Trouble

I don't have a proper method of scanning slides right now, so please forgive the home-use flatbed method on these pictures. The slides themselves are of good image quality, and don't have the smears and streaks as seen on the JPGs; I really wish I had a better way to scan them for this (without spending money). I have Photoshpped the brightness up on the images themselves, just to let others see what the hell is on them.

Sonic CD:

Spider-Man:

Disney's Alladin:

Greatest Heavyweights

And there's printed releases:
“Sonic Mania Hits an All-Time High”
“It's Sega Season with the Hottest Gifts for the Holidays”
“Sega Gets Physical with the Activator Full-Body Controller”
“Sega Sports Announces its' Superstar Lineup for the Holidays”
“Sega Presents Family fun for all Kids of all Ages with the Hottest Games for Genesis, Sega CD, and Game Gear”

I've only scanned the front page of 2 releases, the other ones really look like these.
Contact info edited out to not be a dick and F over people's privacy.

So I guess I should now ask; so do these (Sega press packs) come up all that often? Anyone else have one of these? I'd like to trade/sell it to someone who really wants it, (I don't think I'm sitting on a Gold mine; don't worry) and a few of the DP Old Farts ™ can probably vouch for me, I haven't done any real trading for a while.

I've never seen one before, and those slides are really cool. Sadly, I don't think I could afford it, but thanks much for sharing these scans! How cool of a find is that?!

That is pretty cool, I have no idea what it would be worth though. What are you hoping to get for it value wise?

Wow. I just ate dinner, watched the latest Dr. Who/Moffat brand Mind-screw and came back.

It's already spoken for, trade/sell-wise, but I'm still interested in calling out anyone else who has a Press kit for any era, any system, from at least the age that paper and slides were the norm.
Post 'em! Let's get some info out there for others to see! :D

Incredible stuff! Thanks for sharing :)

By any chance is the Sonic CD slide pictured above from an unfinished version of the game? Maybe I'm imagining things but I really don't recognise the level pictured.

I have no idea; I've only been able to play Sonic CD once, about a month after it first came out way back when.

You sure that's not Quartz Quadrant Past? Then again you might be right, I don't really recoginze that level too much myself.

Thats a pretty cool kit. I have several press kits but they are all from the cd game era so nothing is rare or anything like that.

Really cool. That's a concept I don't think I've ever seen before, or even imagined before (game media on a slide).

They don't come up often at all. The older the press kits the less were sent out and the less survived. These days you have 100s of websites and may will get one in the past the numbers of outlets was much more limited.

Plus people threw them outback then. It was not like today where everything is worth something to someone on eBay and more is saved.

I think it is just Palmtree Panic Zone.. but very dark since it is meant to be illuminated through the slide.

To the Topic Starter: It's great seeing something like this make it through intact until 2011, thanks for letting us take a look at it. As for value... *shrug* sorry no idea.

It is Palm Tree Panic Zone. And you're right about why it's so dark.
