What is the likelihood that the xclamp mod and a fresh coat of arctic silver on the cpu/gpu will fix an E74 error?

Xclamp fix can repair an e74, but not in all cases. E74 is one of those problems covered by the 3 year warranty. I'd go that route first if you can.

The box is out of warranty as its from 05 or 06 IIRC, I guess it can't hurt to to try the xclamp fix...

If xclamp fix doesn't work, you can try a heatgun to the HANA chip to reflow the solder. But getting the temp right is... delicate. Last time I tried it I overheated it, and the chip came off of the contacts. Oops. :-/

X-Clamp Fix + Fresh coat of Arctic Silver 5 on the CPU/GPU = 360 now works great, no more RROD!

Thanks for the advice,

Give it a week/month. You'll be back here with the same problem.
