What is the LEAST played console you own? What about the most?

For me I think (don't hate me for this) it's either the N64 or the Saturn.

The most played is definitely is the Sega Genesis (X'Eye or Nomad).

I don't play the N64 because the only working controller I have is an EA Sports controller, and it even blows and not to mention, I just have a hard time getting into that console. I don't play the Saturn much because.. I dunno. Not too many games for it, and it's always sitting in it's Block Buster case in the closet.

Other consoles I own that I don't play much.. Gameboy Pocket, Atari 2600.

Including handhelds? mine would easily be the gamegear as I find the screen too blurry for comfort and there is really no way to play them on a bigger screen without emulation.

As for consoles I have a rather large collection and it would easily be the CDi closely followed by the N64

I was going to be snarking and say the 360 and Wii, but I honestly have played the N64 and the original Xbox even less often. I don't have many games for either one and as far as the N64 is concerned, there aren't many games I want to play on it. Quick, name the best RPGs on the N64! "Paper Mario... and... um... uh... do strategy/RPGs count?"

Yeah I think that my XBOX is down there too, but not quite as far as the N64.

Yeah I dunno why I said Gameboy Pocket - sometimes I call handhelds consoles, I dunno why.

Well, if I was to be fair to my systems, I'd have to take into consideration how long I've had a system and how many games I have for it. For a system that I've had a considerable length of time (over a decade) and have a fair assortment of games for, I'd say Dreamcast takes the cake for getting played the least.

But it's also rare for me to play 3DO, Wonderswan, GP32, Virtual Boy, Master System, Colecovision, Neo Geo, Neo Geo Pocket Color, PC-FX, Sega CD, Game Gear, Wii, etc.

Hell, if anybody ever looks at my posts in the beaten games or daily playing topics, you'd see I'm always jumping from one system/era to the next, so between all my systems I'm spread pretty thin and don't play any particular system that regularly.

But I would say NES, SNES, N64, and PlayStation see more action than the others.

I would count handhelds, definitely. I don't have any handhelds that don't get a lot of use tho. I mean I haven't played the PSP in awhile, but I used to use it all the time. Same w/ my SP. Eventually I'll run out of stuff to play on the DS and go to another handheld. I even used the Game Gear quite a bit tho I mostly played Master System games on it. I don't own a Lynx or Game.com, so I can't say those. (Tho I plan on owning a Game.com and not using it, just to have the Resident Evil game and a couple others.)

I currently own

SNES
Saturn
NES
Dreamcast
GameBoy SP Advance

Haven't touched GBA in years. Same with DC. I fire Saturn/NES up once in a blue moon for the odd bout of nostalgia (NES all about '87-'91, Saturn '99, 2001-2005). SNES gets the most constant play -- about the only system I play consistently these days.

So, Dreamcast (not counting portables). It's been years, but I have a quaint library (maybe 30, 35 games) for it and suspect one day if I'm ever in the mood for some 3D action I'll fire up Crazy Taxi or Soul Calibur...

Nintendo DS and GBA SP. Bought both of them, a few games for them, 15 minutes later I put them in a drawer where they reside to this day.

Nintendo 64. Bought a used one in a thrift just so I could play Tetrisphere, which I could never get into. The shockingly poorly designed N64 controllers effectively blocked me from trying to enjoy anything else on the system, so it's in a storage tub forgotten and ignored.

SNES. I've got one, never even plugged it in. Picked it up in a thrift since I've been occasionally collecting SNES carts, but I really have no desire to play it.

Neo•Geo Pocket Color. I've got maybe a dozen games for it, but the non-backlit screen annoys me (my first handheld was an Atari Lynx, everything else feels a bit inferior after that).

Fairchild Channel F, Action Max, View-Master Interactivision. I own all of these, but have never played them. The Action Max and the View-Master are because I don't want to hook them up just to play a lousy VHS based 'game', and I've lost the only Channel F game I own, so the console sits quietly on a shelf until I locate another cartridge or two.

Sega Saturn. I've at least spent a small amount of time with this console, but its library doesn't excite me the way something like the Dreamcast does.

Tapwave Zodiac. A handheld made by a former Palm engineer, it was a Palm OS based PDA designed to play games. It never really took off, and most of the time all I ever played on it was Solitaire.

Magnavox Odyssey 2. I've tried to enjoy this console, it's just that I only have a small amount of really good games for it, and the rest of the library is junk. I do on occasion pull it out and give it a spin, though.

For me, it has to be a match between my N64 and my 2600. Although, technically, it should actually be my GameCube, but I sort of give it some gameplay through my Game Boy Player. Ah, who am I kidding: It's my GameCube. ;)

My least played is probably.....my Genesis. I think i just need some better games for it, but I haven't really been compelled to. My second least played would probably be my Wii, but its more because it's new and I havent really got many games for it. And it looks like shit on my HDTV. I really need to get some component cables for it! :D

Gamecube. Half of the games I own for it I didn't put much time into. I put more time into playing Phantasy Star Online 1 and 2 on it more than any other game I own on the system combined. PSO 1 and 2 was the reason I even bought the console, picked the game up months before I picked up the system.

For my least played portable, it'd have to be the DS. I only own the GB, GBA, DS, and PSP. With the GB and GBA, there was really no other handheld I owned during the time so those took all my time. With the DS, I purchased it and then a year later I purchased the PSP. Even without emulation I've played the PSP more, but still put time into my DS.

three way tie. ngage, atari 2600, and famicom disk system.

Ngage because I have games but no console (so I guess it doesn't counthaha)
I have two 2600s but I need ac adapters and would like to mod one. Box of games and one of those fancy multicarts to
FDS needs a famicom and ac adapter. I only have a few games

In fact if anyone is interested in this stuff I'd like to get rid of it...

Atari Jaguar for me, mainly because I only have one game and no controller for it lol.

05-13-2011, 03:08 AM
Atari 7800. I have all of two games that I like for it (Food Fight and Ballblazer). There's a grand total of three more that I want (Scrapyard Dog, Winter Games, and Midnight Mutants), but I don't even want them enough that I could be arsed to seek them out. To be fair, when I got it, I understood the library was crap, and I mainly had VCS games in mind. But that doesn't appeal to me much either, now.

For me it's a tie between the N64, Dreamcast and Jaguar. I just don't have many games for them so I only pull them out when I get a new game for one. I'd also say the Famicom Disk System but the only reason it doesn't get used is because it's broken.

Nirvana
05-13-2011, 03:31 AM
My N64. Mainly because it's broken o_O Not to mention, I wasn't a big fan of the system that much anyway. Not saying it was bad as it has a ton of fans, but it wasn't my cup of tea.

Atari 5200 I have received from Russ like 15 years ago, I haven't played it once yet. Still, one of my most priced consoles to own though.
Magnavox Odyssey, ditto, it never even seen a TV yet.

Others:
CDi...not very enjoyable
Atari 7800, hate the thing
N64, fuzzy graphics
game.com, looks nice in its box

Famidrive-16

I never once used my 32X. Probably be because it didn't come with the cables needed, but I just didn't feel like searching for them for a device I didn't want to play. It came in a box of Atari games I got many years back.

I used my Nomad for about ten minutes, mostly because the AC adapter is broken.

I haven't touched my Jaguar in years, but that's mostly because I haven't been able to find more games for it.

Console: My Sega Mega Drive, seeing that I don't have any cables or controllers for it :D

Handheld: The original Gameboy or Vini Supervision

Famicom disk system (Sharp Twin Famicom in my case).
I try to only collect systems I really like, so I don't even own an N64. If I collected systems just for the sake of owning them, then I'll probably own one and it would be my least played system (never been a fan, played the few games I liked for the system back in the day and never looked back).

Too easy, CD-I. I certainly don't have to state why. It'd be closely followed by the Odyssey 2.

for my seldom used consoles, I have several…

Magnavox Odyssey2
Fairchild Channel F
Atari 2600 (actual console - I play the games on the 7800)
PlayStation (same case as 2600, as I'll play games on the PS2 or PS3)
Nintendo 64
Xbox (I'll play supported titles on the 360)

everything else I'll play at some time or another…

Swamperon

Probably my Gamegear. The sound has just about gone, the Sonic titles I have on GC and the other titles aren't really worth the 6 batteries it guzzles.

Man...I am appauled by all the unplayed Nintendo 64s out there.

As for my least played, it'd probably be a tie between the original xbox and the sega CD

Xbox - just picked one up about 6 months ago...I have a handful of games but outside of testing them all I haven't sat and started playing any of them.

Sega CD - I've had this for awhile but I only haver Dark Wizard and haven't got around to starting that one up yet.

Easy. Magnavox Odyssey 2, complete and boxed with about 8 complete games played once. And Mattel Intellivision. And for the people with Game Gear video and sound problems, replace the bad capacitors and they usually work better than new, mine did. Now need to find cheap replacement screens, way over priced.

It's sad, I probably have a few.

N64: I've always hated this system <_<. I do have a good amount of games to play someday, but I never seem to hook the system up anymore.

7800: Considering getting rid of my 2600 and 7800 games as I haven't played this system in ages.

CD-I: Only a handful of games I want to play, and 2 of them need the darn video card adaptor.

Tie between Atari 5200 & Colecovision.
Got them both when they came out.
Have not hooked them up in many years.
Don't even know how well they work, but I'm sure the controllers still suck!

My least played system is actually my xbox 360

I even play the original xbox more because of 360's lame backwards compatibility (by that I mean every game I like either isn't compatible or doesn't play like it's supposed to on the 360). Don't get me wrong, I like the 360, that's why I bought it, but I give more attention to my PS3. Once I finished Halo Reach I just haven't found any excuse to play it. I just got goldeneye for N64 so I've even been playing my N64. Sadly I've also been neglecting my SNES now that I think of it.

The CDi, but I'll say why -- I bought it with a controller that had pins broken off. Since I don't have any sort of way to control it, I can't say I've ever played it.

If anyone has a CDi controller they would like to loan me for a couple months, you'll get first crack when I'm done playing the few CDi titles I really want to try ;)

Beyond that, Game.Com is easily runner up.

SpaceFlea

SG-1000 is probably my least played (never used except to test games), then N64 and WonderSwan (both only ever played once since owned). Well, actually my Game.com has never been removed from it's blister - so I guess it would truly be my least played since it's never been powered on, but I don't know if I could count that.

Saturn is by far my most played, followed closely by DC and Genny.

Everything else is a bit fuzzy.

RCA Studio II. I think I played it a couple days once I first got the thing to try it out and see how bad it is. Since then, it's sat in a plastic tub with its switchbox and power cord, and there it shall remain for the foreseeable future. Don't have much call to go through the trouble of hooking it up when there's not really anything good for it.

My 2600 also doesn't get much love, but that's because I play its games on the 7800 more often. It's also been a while for my Colecovision, but that's just because the power supply makes an unpleasant buzzing sound, so I like to leave it not plugged in as much as possible.

For me it's:

Atari 5200 - I've got a ton of fun games for this but I probably won't play it until I get it A/V & power modded.

Virtual Boy - It's fun in small bursts and I'd like to save it from wear and tear (namely the eye piece/cover)

Game Gear - Craptastic washed out screen keeps me from playing this one. Not complaining as it was free.

For consoles I would have to say the Jaguar because I just bought it. I hope I will find more games that I want to spend some time with for the Jag to correct that. Of systems I have owned long enough to matter, I would have to say that I have logged the least time on the Turbo/PCE, 3DO, Jaguar and Playstation 1+2.

I have definitely spent the most time on the Genesis CD 32X of any console I have owned. That is simply because Arcade games were all I cared about back in the day, and the Genesis plus upgrades consistently gave me more of what I wanted at home.

This is a hard one for me. My biggest problem, for me, is that I have too many systems. I am thinly spread between them. There seems to be equal time spent between my Wii, SNES, TG16, PSP DSi XL, Genesis, N64, and Neo Geo CD. The least played of my systems would be my Game.com, and maybe my Atari Jaguar. And it has been something like months since I pulled them out. The Saturn, Game Cube, 32X, Dreamcast, GBP, GBC, Swancrystal, WonderSwan, Atari Lynx, GP32, PS2, PS1, GB SP, NES, and a few other oddball systems are somewhere in between. And really it depends on mood and the itch as to what I am wanting to play. So any one of my systems can be pulled out at any moment with a weekend marathon of gaming with that particular one. So even my least played can become a top system in my home for that special weekend.

I'm bad about bouncing back and forth from system to system. Some see more loves than others, I barely touch my Jaguar or Dreamcast anymore, but as far as the system that gets played the least? Two years ago I bought a PS1 complete in the box and it has never been taken out of the box. So PS1 for me. No offense to anyone of the PS1.

Currently, my Turbo Duo. The system seems to have problems reading Hucards so I'm gonna have someone on pcenginefx check it out when my next paycheck comes in (might just need the capacitators replaced, I've heard that causes most of the Duo's issues).

Runner up would probably be my Sega CD, because I only have two games for it and they're both platformers and thus, easily beaten.

Beyond that, I don't really keep track of how often I play my consoles. I just know that sometimes, I spend a whole year fixated on one console and then hook up another. I think overall, the total playtime balances out.

Hmm...easily I think that would have to be the Dreamcast (waits for the gasps of astonishment to quiet down). I've got decent games for it but I'm just not compelled to hook it up. It sits on the top shelf of my gaming bookcase and is being used as a "case end" for my DS and PC titles and its top is a rest for my boxed Tomy Digital Derby handheld.

Second would be my SNES. Last time it saw its switch flipped was to check out the differences of the Wii and SNES version of Super Mario All Stars. The 2600 is third but since my daughter had taken an interest, well at least as much interest as a 1 year old can (she found the joystick interesting and held it it properly right away with no help, little thumb depressing the button), that might be changing.

Most played right now: have to be the PS3 thanks to Mass Effect 2, which I just finished.

Well I've technically never played my Gamecube since it's still factory sealed. This is alittle sad since I have 16 really good games for it, most of them still factory sealed. I also put my N64 and JVC X Eye consoles back on the shelf. As for the systems I have hooked up now, the Wii never gets played. And tied for second least played would be my Saturn and 3DO.
