Three days until release. Who's interested in this game? I'm interested, but not sure if I'll preorder it or wait for a sale. Right now it has $15 Amazon credit if you preorder it.

Pre-ordered and waiting for Tuesday.
Considering Rockstar's track record...there's no doubt this will be excellent. The in-game world is 8 square miles (GTA IV is 6) and will take 30 minutes to drive across. Those types of details are awesome. Just one of the reasons I love open world games...especially from this generation.
I'm wondering how close the 1940's LA in this game will mirror the present day LA in GTA V. I don't think it's too far fetched to imagine road layouts and older building carrying over from game to game. Not that I'm suggesting these stories are related (most would agree they're not).

Except Kmart where you get a $20 coupon for your next purchase and any game free under $20 with purchase. Of course, you also have to deal with the hassle of Kmart.

I'm not really interested in this game but I'll be attending the midnight launch for my job. However, Best Buy has a pretty good deal on it, although it's different depending on where you see it.
According to this weeks ad, if you buy this game at Best Buy you will get a $10 gift card, free download for an exclusive suit for your in-game character and(if you are one of the first 16 people to arrive at their midnight launch) get a free code to unlock the first DLC pack.
However, if you preorder at Best Buy.com you get a $15 gift card, a $10 gift certificate(you have to be a Rewards Zone gamers club member, which is free) and the same code for the exclusive suit. So the best deal would be preordering it at Best Buy.com and then picking it up at midnight so that you can get the first DLC pack free(provided you are within the first 16 people) along with $25 in gift cards/certificates and the free suit download.

A friend of mine (not on these boards) was naughty and has the first disc. He played through it and said it starts slows, picks up nicely and is highly enjoyable. Puzzles are a little too easy this early on and the lie detector angle is tough. He recommends so far.

Just got mine. Will give it a run tomorrow...I did get a sweet poster for showing up tonight.
Was a bit disappointed to see them pushing Modern Warfare 3 hard to all reserves already...it was just announced officially, and it's not in the same vein as LA Loire, so it seemed kinda desperate.

Amazon isn't the best choice this time around (for once).
Best Buy.com had it for $48.99 + 500 reward zone points (= $10) + a $15 gift card. Essentially the game runs $23.99 + tax.

Thats what I was trying to tell everyone a few post above, although it never listed it as $48.99 when I was on Best Buy.com, just the normal $59.99. But at either price the $10 gift certificate, $15 gift card and preorder dlc make it very much worth it.

Well, the $48.99 is a nice boon, but not knowing about it kinda hurt my chances of taking advantage of it. :P

Gave this a run last night and had a pretty good time with it. The detective work is a bit stiff but pretty fun.
My only complaint is the severely compressed audio on the 360 version. The digital compression is especially noticeable in the speech, which I find super distracting.

And I suck at interrogating. Finding clues is definitely more difficult not having a dual shock controller. I can never hear that chime and have to rely on the music to cut out to know I have them all.
Otherwise, awesome experience. Having your partner do the driving is quite possibly the greatest thing they could have added.
Wish you could replay the cases you've done (because somehow I 1-starred Marriage Made In Heaven).

I went back to 5-star the first one. Gotten 4 on each of the first two.
Unless you're great at driving, having your partner drive is a key to 5-star. I think it's best to play through normally, then go back and perfect each case.

The fact that it's on Blu Ray really isn't a big deal as it's a very linear game and you really only need to swap discs three times total on the 360 version and it's many hours between swaps. Having said that, the PS3 version was the lead version and seems to have a graphical and performance edge. It also comes with a bit of added content. If you have both, I'd go with the PS3.

Bought the PS3 version on launch day and I think it's ok so far. The game looks "good" graphically wise (it's exactly what I expected from Rockstar) but I do admit the facial animation IS very impressive. While I like the game so far, I am kind of bored with it. I can't exactly place why but I'm not really motivated to want to keep going through the cases. *sigh* Oh well, I'll still keep playing it and seem if my mind changes....

Oob is wise. I will have to do that later. I seem to have gotten the hang of searching as I can discern the chime from the music and just don't stop until I get white noise. Interrogating on Red Lipstick Murder was a lot easier for me for some reason, only missed one question this time. Some people, like Morgan in Fallen Idol, have much better poker faces than others, really wasn't the case in this one.

Heard reports of audio compression on the 360 being mediocre, but that's just hearsay. I bought the PS3 version for 1 disc (Yes, I'm lazy) and the supposed video compressions, the same that were with the 360 version of FFXIII. Not to say it'll happen every time, but I'd rather avoid a chance of that again by defaulting to the PS3 on multi titles.

I bought LA Noire today from Kmart. The Kmart deal is the best because there was an addition that no one else listed.
On the Kmart deal you get a $20 game free and the $20 gaming credit on next game purchase like everyone has already listed, however, you also get $10 off $60. So technically, LA Noire for $12.99(I paid $52.99 after tax.)
Maybe the $10 off $60 was just my store, or probably because to get the free game you needed to sign up for the rewards membership so I did that at the time. I don't know. But I got LA Noire for cheap. I probably should have purchased a second copy to sell LA Noire and the extra game on Ebay and still have the $20 gaming credit.
*edit*
Also wondering if anyone is having a problem with this game on a 60GB PS3? I've heard both 360s and PS3s are overheating and freezing because of this game.

I'm on the 10th case and I'm really enjoying this game. I'm giving thought to springing for the DLC on this...I got the GameStop one with my purchase, and I see Wal-Mart's got one too, as well as the one that Best Buy was giving away at midnight launches.
I'm sure that Rockstar will be selling them eventually, but if it's anything like the limited DLC for Red Dead, it'll be out long after my interest in this game in waned.

Is it a 60GB? If so. What model? I'm still on edge about whether I want to play this game or not, or return it and wait for it to hit a price drop and then hopefully by that time it's patched. It's just odd that thousands of people on both the PS3 and 360 are complaining about freezing and overheating, though with PS3 it's supposedly just the fat models.

It's a higher capacity launch system with PS2 capabilities. Don't remember is that's 60 or 80.
Just hit the vice desk. The end of homicide was very nice but a little high on the plot hole side. Game's still excellent.

I'm still working homicide. I REALLY liked the last case. I won't say which case, but it worked the multiple suspects angle, and you have to choose which guy gets charged. The game was starting to feel almost too linear up to that point... go here, find evidence, go there, bust suspect. Now that there can be multiple suspects, I think the cases have potential to get much more interesting.
Also, I've enjoyed all of the different actors in this. I've even recognized some of the faces of random people walking the street or in bars. Makes it feel that much more like a movie or TV show.

I have a total love/hate affair with this game going on. The motion-cap acting IS terrific; the game play though, for me, became so mind-numbingly repetitive that at times during the homicide cases I completely forgot what was going on and got one case confused with the prior one because it was so similar. Investigate a crime scene/drive around/apprehend a fleeing suspect on floot/by car, rinse repeat. The side missions felt like an afterthought and the whole "open world" aspect just didn't pan out. Clearly a lot of work went into the game but the mechanics of it are so transparent and redundant that, ultimately, I think as time passes people will look back on it as a real missed opportunity.

finished last night, good game overall, but truthfully im a little let down.
the game started to feel ridiculously repetive once i began homocide, its like every single person u meet from that moment on breaks out into a chase, then investigating like 70 dead women, chasing down more suspects, rinse and repeat ad infinitum
i might also be alone on this, but i felt they (rockstar) really broke their backs recreating such a huge city for basically no reason, bragging rights if anything, theres really nothing to do outside of the story missions, like i found no real reason or incentive to explore, also most story missions are something within an 8 block radius of its respective police station so again it feels like just a huge waste of a city
ending was kind of anticlimatic as well, but these arent really game breaking knocks against it, i'd still give the game a good 8.5, the things it does right are done REALLY well, facial animations bordered on the uncanny valley, lol so real its creepy

Finally got to the end of this one last night. I've been breaking up the storyline with some exploring and whatnot, so I've not gotten bit by the "repetition" bug.
But man, the end of this game was easily the most disappointing ending I think I've ever seen. It feels like there are a lot of loose ends that are left.
Time to go back and finish out the achievements and wait for the new DLC.
Overall, game gets a 8.5/10.

Yeah, the K-Mart deal was the reason why I bought it in the first place. I got White Knight Chronicles for PS3 for free that day and then went back and used the $20 credit towards a few clearance DS games. Perhaps I should have bought the PS3 version of Noire, but I'm more apt to plug in the 360, which is why I got the 360 version. I didn't know there was an exclusive case on the PS3 version at the time, though.
