Hello!
My name is Nate and I'm fairly new to the arcade scene. I own a used game store in my hometown dealing with a lot of the consoles (Atari, NES, SNES, etc) and arcades have been one that's eluded me so far until this past week. I just got my hands on a trio of cabinets and I'm looking for manuals and information on them. I tried to power on two of the three in the storage facility where they are and got nothing, gotta wait a bit till I can get them out and open them up to know more.
#1 Battle Lane Vol 5, cabinet's in decent shape, tried to power it on but got nothing at all.
#2 Arkanoid, also in nice physical shape, this was the one I couldn't get to.
#3 Intrepid, decent shape, some chipping around the edges (the other two looked like black panel, this was a wood grain); powered on but got no display or audio, gotta open it up, this one is first on my list.
I've scrounged up manuals for Battle Lane and Arkanoid but I'm coming up empty on Intrepid. Seems to be a little known game, I find in the databases but not anywhere else really. Quartercade.com has an Intrepid board, but nothing else.
If anyone can point me at some decent resources for these titles, or especially an Intrepid manual, I'd be much obliged!!

First and foremost, congratulations on your purchases!
I checked all the free places and came up empty. VidPin has an Intrepid manual for sale for $10. I'd wait until I got it home first to see if I could fix it without it. These things are all pretty similar in design.

Thank you ^_^ I'm pretty stoked myself; my dad ran a teen night club back in the 80s and I got to "test" the games with him on the nights they were closed so arcades really hold a special spot for me and I'm stoked to finally be able to tinker with them.
I found the VidPin site and manual, attempted to order it even, but the site, for the most part, seems dead. Tried contacting the registered domain holder as the phone number is dead too.
As to the manual, aside from the tech assistance I'm a terrible completest at heart; most of my console games are complete in the box with the walkthrough and whatever special doo-dads I can get my hands on so it also scratches that itch as well as helps me rest a bit easier knowing I have some info.
I was contacted through another channel and told that the Intrepid game was essentially a Frogger cabinet. Any idea, anyone, if that's accurate?

Let's start off with basic syntax.
Arcade: a building
Arcade game: a coin operated video game, often found inside an arcade.
:)
Intrepid was usually bought as a kit but there were some dedicated games in generic woodgrain cabinets that are somewhat similar to Sega's basic Frogger style cabinets. If you can post photos of your cabinet, we can ID it for you. Frogger cabinets had one coin door, the cabs Intrepid shipped in had an over/under door.
Having the manual won't really matter, as Flack said the broad strokes are pretty much the same. Is the monitor neck glowing?

I'll keep the syntax in mind!
As to pics, I'm going back tomorrow to get some anyway so I can post some up. I figured pics would help to begin with if I was going to be asking questions, I'm just a tad impatient. Thanks for taking a look into this!

Thanks for the pointer but already did and got flagged as a newbie, and with current trolling tendencies I guess they're locking down hard on new accounts? Apparently there's somewhere I can post as a new account but I can't seem to find it for the life of me and to lift said restrictions I either make a donation or have a member vouch; being new to the community I'm not sure I want to make donations right out of the gate and don't know anyone to vouch for me.
Hmm...forum at my post.
Manuals, I have PDFs of Arkanoid and Battle Lane and ordered hard copies as well, so I'm set there, its just Intrepid being a pain.
An auction mentioned keeping/finding manuals inside the machine which hadn't dawned on me that they could be with the machines yet so I'm going to check that out tomorrow when I go get pics.

Hopefully the owner still has the keys. If not, the locks can probably be pried open, or as a last resort, drilled out. I uploaded a video to Youtube on how to drill out locks a couple of years ago. I took up lockpicking as a hobby and I would probably just pick the locks now, although I understand that's not an option for everybody. ;)

PM me (here) the name you registered over at KLOV and I'll get you upgraded to a regular account.

Thanks DogP for getting me approved! Posted there as well about looking for the items~
As to pics, I couldn't really get a good set of images. Snapped off a couple, but quarters were cramped in storage there and dark.
On looking at it again with more of a focus, the Intrepid cabinet is not, as I mis-remembered, wood panel but a painted cabinet. Checked the interior for manuals and alas, none. Sort of a mess inside actually so I'll have to try to clean it up before I try firing it up again; its probably been in storage at least ten years if not more.
I DID learn the cabinet itself was a Super Pac Man originally, had a few of the manufacturer tags still inside. Still can't get to the other two just yet, gotta wait until another buyer comes along to pick up the soda machines in the same storage space.

Not the three I mentioned, but another collection I just picked up! Kinda stoked about these, most of them work and those that do not probably need a new monitor or just checking the wires. I haven't had a chance to work on any of them, so I'm kinda sad about that, but working it out so that I can.
Upshot is I'm working on my landlord to get into a larger space for my storefront so when I do, these will be up and playable ^_^

No need for new monitors, you can easily fix the old monitors if that turns out to be the issue.
