...or for free, if someone were close enough to just pick it up?

I think that all of us eventually accumulate things that we have practically no use for or desire to own, but it's a pain to get rid of because they're not worth anything to anyone locally (specialty stores, and/or Craig's list), and it's not worth it to pay eBay listing fees for shit that most likely won't sell.

I usually pad lots with stuff like this or throw some of them in as freebies when I sell related things, as I'm sure others do as well, but I doubt most buyers really care about them either. I wonder if there are things in our collections that we place zero value on that someone here may actually want.

What (if anything) are some of the 'unoffloadable' things cluttering up your collection that you'd just like to see go to a good home, free and clear...profit be damned?

Hard NES plastic game cases. Various auctions have led me to accumulate a box full of them. They don't appeal to me and I don't see them selling for much more than shipping and fees. Eventually I'll take them to Goodwill.

A bunch of cables, cases, and other accessories I never touch and used stores won't take. There's NES RF adapters and stuff like that I have which nobody wants.

Can you pm me a complete inventory? I'm actually looking for some cables that "nobody wants"!

There were a few want ads on my local craigslist for them, there are people who want them though not for all that much money. They're nice to store rarer/more valuable games in, I personally keep the ones I come across.

As for me, there's not much I give away unless it's defective or it's to people I know. Even Genesis sports titles have uses for me, I include them in lots and occasionally there's people who buy them separately.

Random video game magazines I've accumulated over the years, like Game Informer. Although I do like reading my really old ones every now and then to read reviews of PS games.

Ditto. If I lower a game to $3(sometimes it gets to 99 cents) then theres no where else for it to go. So I might as well just give it a way. For the most part, I'll list a game at 99 cents once(reduced from whatever I had it at the week before). And if it still doesn't sell I'll add it to another auction as a bundle lot. If it still doesn't sell then I'll pretty much just leave it on a shelf somewhere.

I have a bunch of random 2K games for the PS2. That would fit in with the title of this thread.

I have several PC games that I wish I hadn't bought. I don't collect PC games, so the only reason I buy them is to resell and fund my other game purchases. Gives me something to look for since just about every place has a selection of PC games while it's not uncommon for a place to have absolutely no console/handheld games. I've gotten to the point that I don't buy a PC game unless I know it has value or I've looked it up later and returned to the store. I've made too many "educated" guesses that flopped on me. The bad part is that boxed PC games take up SO much space. I don't want to sell them when they have next to no value and I'd have to go to the trouble of finding a box that fits, so maybe someday I'll donate them right back to a thrift store. I'd rather give them to a friend that would enjoy them, though, so there's some purpose to the little bit of money I spent on them.

There might be a handful of worthless NES and SMS games left I don't care about. Not enough space to keep much around I really know I won't get some odd whim to play.

I'd gotten rid of most of my physical PC games some time ago. Tossed out quite a few empty boxes, sad to admit. Would've been too big of hassle to try and sell PC game boxes without the discs. I'm just not so motivated a seller as to waste time on prices THAT trivial.

I would probably ask to buy them, but shipping is pretty expensive sometimes on lots of PC games depending on if they are older, big box stuff. How many are we talking about here?

Normally, I won't let anything go for the price of shipping because of eBay padding. eBay padding is a powerful selling tool that we probably all have been sucked into when buying a "lot" of games.

I'd say I would buy them, but the shipping is usually pretty pricey on PC games (especially old big box ones). I guess it depends how many are we talking about here?

As for letting games go for shipping, I think eBay padding is too powerful of a force for me. Who hasn't been subjected to eBay padding when buying a "lot" of games. Games are always useful for padding.

The copper wire inside of them is worth more then the item itself. I took a bunch of unused cables to the scrap yard and made $30 bucks.

Hook me up with that! I'd take a few random bad games off your hands. :D

Like I said, I'm too lazy to ship them. :P I couldn't now even if I wanted to, seeing as they're on the opposite side of the country as me.

I have a box full of black NES game sleeves and another box full of those clear SNES game cartridge holders. I don't use them, and they're just taking up space, so I might be willing to let them go.

I was thinking this exact same thing when I saw the big boxed version of Never Winter Nights at Goodwill today. It was only $3 but I had no idea what it was worth and didn't want to take a chance like I've done on a few other occassions. We really need a Kelly blue book for pc games to take with us when we are game hunting. It would make things so much easier.

This topic got me thinking, as I'm pretty sure I have games and misc stuff that's usually not even worth listing on eBay for a buck when it comes to fees...

So I was wondering, is there any kind of donation service set up for games? I know some people give to goodwill, but I'd rather it go to someone who would appreciate it immediately. I feel bad getting rid of some games because I did pay for them, but if there's a benefit like a tax writeoff, or something like that, I'd be more inclined to.

When s1lence had his fire it got me thinking about this, but for someone who lost much more than games, sending a box of NES commons wouldn't really be as helpful.

You can donate to childs play with stuff you sell on eBay right? Or maybe there's a way that we could send stuff to a classic gamer who maybe doesn't have the money to start collecting. I dunno...just brainstorming.

I've got a few broken consoles that I've picked up in various lots over the last year or 2 that I'd probably let go for shipping. A PS1 that has a busted laser assembly, Genesis 2 and Sega CD 2 that won't power on and an NES that won't play games. I have a PS2 that works, but it has a video problem where the screen looks dark. I've tried different AV cables and it's definitely the system. I'll probably try to get more than shipping on that one though.
