I'm getting a Famicom w/ disk system soon, but there's no power supply with it. Can anyone recommend an American counterpart or perhaps point me to a place that has a Famicom power supply for sale? For that matter, don't I have to get a voltage converter to run it here?

I heard that an NES or Genesis power supply will work fine. You can find more specific info at www.vidgame.net (hi Achika!)

I certainly hope that's the case. I certainly don't want to blow up the system.

Now where can I find a cheap NES or Genesis power supply? Think Radio Shack still carries them?

I believe a Genesis 1 power supply is correct for the Famicom unit but NOT an NES power supply. I think one is AC and the other is DC. I think the Famicom Disk System can runn off batteries. There is a power supply that was availabel for it but I don't think it came with it originally. If no one else gives you the correct power supply ratings I'll dig out my Famicom stuff and give you the info.

hmmm... I have a Genesis 1 power supply, but I only have one - and I don't want it fried. If you could dig up that info and let me know, I'd appreciate it!

original Famicom AC adapter (part #HVC-002): input 100V, output DC10V 850mA

original Famicom Disk System AC adapter (part #HVC-025): input 100V, output DC9VA 400mA

Sega Genesis model 1 AC adapter (part #1602-1): input 120V, output 10V DC 1.2A

NES AC adapter (part #NES-02): input 120V, output AC9C 1.3A

DO NOT USE NES AC ADAPTER ON FAMICOM! It outputs AC not DC like the others. Not sure what will happen but it is probably not good. Famicom Ac adapters are 100V not 120V and I've heard some people say not to leave them plugged in very long. I think you also could get some kind of a step-down transformer (or would that be step-up? I don't know.) I think your best bet is the Genesis AC adapter or go to Radio Shack and buy a new one. Hope this helps.

I just use batteries and remove them when I'm done. Why risk it? If you can find the Official one (they pop up on Ebay now and then), then go ahead and use it. Unplug when done and you will be fine.
