So what games have people encountered that are the most bizarre, weirdest, quirky or "thats so not right" for the Saturn/N64/PSX Generation and later? I've searched the forum and come up with a few titles, as well as Google, but I think I need more games (well, I always need MORE games...)
Thanks

EDIT: I feel I should clarify, not to devalue anyone's responses (thank you for your input!) but rather so this thread doesn't become a repeat of earlier threads. I'm more curious as to the more obscure/underground/not heard of weird games. Sexy Parodius and Steam Hearts, although are pretty weird, are both pretty well known and get mentioned all over the place. I'm hoping to dig up some games that not very many people have heard. I apologize in advance if I offend anyone who responded earlier, I should have clarified further the intent on this thread originally.

Well... Maybe not ONLY for Japan... But my three favorite STRANGE games that had no business coming to the US would be...

Incredible Crisis (PSX)
Mister Mosquito (PS2) - Hope the second one comes out stateside!
and
Iraira-Bo – Honou no Challenger: Dengeki Ira na Bou (aka Irritating Stick on PSX, but I have it for N64).

I think I also have to include most of the Pocket Monsters' Stadium 2 & 3 mini-games (especially Sushi-Go-Round. I love that game!) :grumble:

Bishi Bashi Special 3: Step Champ. No contest. You can connect up to 3 DDR mats, and play the most insane mini games you've ever seen with 1 to 3 players. It's also got a mini DDR mode with about 6 half-length songs, some from DDR 1st through 3rd. And get this - you can play Triple DDR mode on it, with one player using 9 panels on all 3 mats. You haven't lived until you've played a half length version of Paranoia Another across 3 mats.

The official arcade version web site: http://www.konami.co.jp/am/step/
(Shift-JIS text encoding)

The orange link leads you to the mini game section. The green foot lets you browse the games, the purple foot shows you the DDR mode, and the blue foot shows you the Hyper Olympic/Track and Field games.

I have never played anything more insane on the PSX. Never.

Supposedly the Mister Mosquito sequel is going to be Japan-only, at least according to the latest EGM (?).

Ore No Ryouri (aka I'm the Chef, aka My Cooking)

You can find a demo on the Jampack Summer 2000 disc. But the entire game is MUCH better.

Choaniki (which translates into something like "Super Big Brother" is a horizontal shooter available for the Saturn and PSX in Japan only. It's standard shooter fare, except for the strong homoerotic imagerary that permeates the entire game... you have got to play it to see what i mean. Just be prepared for muscle worship and and penises throughout.

Steam Hearts for PC Engine is a truly standard shooter with the exception of the images of bondage and sadomaschicism that divide each stage. To be honest, that's really not all that weird for japanese fare, but you won't see much in the states. there is also a watered-down version for the saturn

How about Sexy Paradious for the Saturn? Nothing like combining nudity with a classical shooter.

There were also a PSX game at saw at a party once but I can't for the life of me remember the name. All I remember ws one involved rock, paper, scissors and stripping. Very strange stuff.

Bishi Bashi is a series? Interesting...

I had the good fortune to use a Bishi Bashi Champ arcade machine (on freeplay!) once, but that was just Mindless Button Mashing elevated to the Highest Levels of Artifice.

Anyway, there's an immensely disturbing X68k shmup reviewed at http://twilight.overclocked.org/ . It is So Thoroughly Disturbing that I will not link to it directly.

Yeah, there are a few of those Pop'n Music style button mashing Bishi Bashi games, and there was also Step Champ, and Gachagachamp. Gachagachamp was a little different in that it was for 2 players, and each player had just a pair of joystics. There's a PSX version of this, too, which also includes Hyper Bishi Bashi (button mashing,) but it isn't half as insane as using DDR mats. It's still worth playing, though.

Sorry for the poor quality, it's tough to play and take a picture at the same time! Plus... I need a new TV so badly it's a damn shame. I'm will be getting something to do vid caps or snap shots, but no luck so far. The product I bought would not work at all! :(

:grumble: Ore No Ryouri?!?!? I have that demo! I love it!!! I completely forgot about that! I'll have to look for the full game. Also, about KA 2 (Mister Mosquito 2) only being japan... That sucks, but I understand. What do I need to play imports on my PS2? (I would prefer not to permanently mod it).

Ai Cho Aniki (Super Older/Elder Brother) also came out as a super cd for the TurboGrafx. There is a Street Fighter-esque fighter for the Super\Famicom based on this too.

Weirder than all hell. Homophobics beware. Fairies and penises and male gayness permeate this game. People rag on it for being such a horrible game (they are homophobes). For the time it was pretty good. Tastless maybe, but not a bad game as far as fun factor. Some parts are pretty damn funny and the bosses are rather creative.

Don't ask me why, but I have 2 copies of the TGDuo version...one is still brand new and sealed. Yes, I am completely straight.

Ok.

Mini Skirt Police involves mini games which your goal is to look up skirts. Well... most of them that is! There's the bouncing car, which I haven't quite figured out yet. The higher and harder you bounce the car the higher her skirt goes. There's a car race and also a memory game where you match panties (after the skirts blow up a few times). If I remember right, there is another one that you uncover pictures of real women, but I can't recall what the mini game was.

Yakyuken Special = Strip Rock, Paper, Scissors with real women

Ohsama Game = more mini games with Hippo like characters. It's been a while since I've played some of these so details are a bit fuzzy!

Cebu Island 96 = Can't recall, but it envolves real women and some type of game. @_@

Playboy Karaoke Vol. 2 = Playboy videos with Japanese songs... fun for the entire family.

Any of the Super Real Mahjong games. I'm sure I'm alone on this one :embarrassed:!

Virtual Photo Studio = Taking pictures of real women. If you are good, they change outfits (take off clothes) until they are in panties or nude. No... there's no full frontal in this game! :P

There are more, but I can't recall them at the moment. I do know some good ones for the PS2 tho'!

Meh, good luck! I found a very nice seller on eBay that was willing to scour Japan for it for me. Even then, it was $45 for the original print of it last year.

PS- It won't work on modded systems, won't work with PSX-Change and unless your emulator supports R3 & L3 buttons (the actual buttons, not just the sticks) it won't work.

You can also find a bunch of pics of this and a "review" (you'll know why I put it in quotes if you go read it or frequent the site) at Something Awful http://www.somethingawful.com . They've actually got a bunch of obscure games reviewed there. Although they aren't that helpful, they're funny.

I can't remember the name, but one of the gaming magazines I recieve had a review of a game in which the main character fights crime using his nose hair. I think that's about the strangest game I've ever heard of.

Iron Chef:Stadium Tour for Saturn. Did they ever port that HK arcade game to a home console where you have to furiously ram that plastic hands finger into the built-in ass?
