Lately, I've been taking a break from playing games (stupid job!) to doing more crafty things related to games. I've really gotten into cross stitch because of its relationship to 8 and 16 bit art (1 pixel=1 stich) and thought you guys might like what I've done. Enjoy!

The first project I attempted was the FF1 party, which I got a cool circular frame for. (Bonus points if you recognize the turntable :) )

Next up I thought I'd try the A in the alphabet by Laialda (http://www.spritestitch.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=1563&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&start=20#p11464) on the Sprite Stitch forums.

That took a lot longer than I thought it would!

By this time I was living in Thailand, and without English TV, I had a lot of time on my hands, so I tried the D.

After that, I needed a break from the alphabet, so I did the Mario 3 bookmark by Ellentje (http://www.spritestitch.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=1913) on Sprite Stitch.

(I need to actually make it a bookmark, though.)

Finally, I just finished this one today. It's my first pattern, and is based off the pattern established by Laialda. I like her Worms one, but I wanted to shoot for a game that was older, so I decided to make one for Warlords. Here it is!

Nice stuff. :) This topic makes me want to cross stitch. I've been doing it most of my life, probably since I was around 10, although I've never tackled a sprite project.

You know, my hometown has a state fair that has competitions in all sorts of crafts, cooking, gardening, etc., including a cross stitch competition which I have entered in the past. It would be really fun to enter with a video game design and shake things up among the old ladies that cross stitch cats and Jesus, haha.

You totally should! KG-Chart LE makes it easy to import sprites from an emulator, and even matches the closest DMC color floss for you!

Very creative! I especially love that Warlords one.

Too cool. Awesome job. My mother-in-law does a lot of those, especially around Christmas time when there's, like, thousands of Santa/Tree, etc., themes. I've always looked at them and said if I wasn't so busy with a hundred other things that I could make some cool video game inspired ones. Those definitely increase my urge.

I can't stitch, or else this would be my medium of choice instead of the fuse beads. I really like the Warlords one.

Having done some video game cross stitch projects in the past, seeing yours has made me want to get out the needles and floss again. I really like the alphabet theme, too -- you could make some kind of really oversized sampler out of the complete set. :)
