If anything, this console could put pressure on an already pressured game market to change the retail aspect of gaming. While I dont think that this system is going to be huge game changer, it might stir the pot a bit.

I really don't see the point of an Android-based console.

It has to have an OS. It may as well be one with a future and a large library of games.
It sounds like they're more open to community involvement than the big first parties, so it has a chance to carve out a niche for itself, but I don't think it will cause much of a stir in the market.

A success will be just actually bringing this to market for a short time and selling a few. The most likely scenario is that it's going to be a non starter.

It might as well not even exist from the standpoint of having any sort of impact on the current three console companies. It isn't going to create any sort of splash in the ocean.

It'll be as much more crowded as a mouse amongst men. I don't think too many people will care about it.

And community designed? I can't imagine what a mess that would be.

1.2ghz processor and 512mb of ram, huh. Sounds a lot like a computer I built in 2002. It should run DOOM pretty well at least. I wonder how well it will do with the multitude of fart-soundboards also available for Android.

The company has also announced that the EVO 2 will allow its users to modify any part of the system and that is the first gaming console to offer crowd source and social participation. Envizions claimed that the community of gamers will help design the console by participating on Twitter, Facebook and the EVO 2 website. The users will be able to vote in the location of launch and the appearance of the console.

At least we know they can use buzzwords appropriately.

Did anyone even buy an EVO Smart Console? I barely heard anything about it.

If Google gets directly involved, this could get interesting. Otherwise, I'm not expecting more than a ripple and a few blurbs here and there.

Ugh. Alright, then again... Point to Portnoyd!

I wouldn't under estimate it. My Android powered HTC Inspire 4G cell phone puts out some pretty impressive graphics really. I'd say it's even borderline current gen. Of course blown up on your huge TV might be a different story in the terms of quality. But Nintendo has shown that graphics quality doesn't mean ish.

Doesn't really get me excited from what I read - but I'll pick it up when it goes 75% clearance at Target 3 months after launch. That is, if it even ends up coming out.

You're right. I love the Wii. To me, it's not about graphics power, it's about gameplay. I don't think that community-driven development is a killer app for any system. I'm curious to see how the authors of fart-soundboards will use the larger screen of a television to entertain us.

Don't get me wrong. I like Android. I like the idea, I like open architecture. I just don't think it will work. Who is going to build it? Probably some shitbox Malaysian company, and they'll do rock-bottom work.

In the end, I still have no faith in this product making it to production prototyping, much less anyone knowing of its existence outside this community and the people who right those retarded, "10 consoles that could have existed" articles for Time and Yahoo.

LOL Dyson vacuums are made in Malaysia. (not that they are good or anything cause they aren't)

This. It's screaming "hipster idiocy magnet" from the get-go. I, too, suspect another Phantom.

Almost everything I play these days is either homebrew or user -generated content on commercial games, so maybe this community nonsense will appeal to me.
The one thing that would sell me on the system is a decent controller. I hate all of the current first party controllers with the possible exception of the Wii classic controller.
