I've been playing a lot of Baseball Stars 2 for Neo Geo, and I was wondering if there is a better baseball game on MAME. Any ideas?

I'm not much of a sports game fan, but when I saw the title I was going to come in and post Baseball Stars for Neo Geo.

Base-Base-Baseball Stars 2!!

Really, I can't think of a better one. I remember enjoying Clutch Hitter in the arcade as well.

I always loved Clutch Hitter.

And I have an unexplainable love for World Series: The Season (http://www.arcade-museum.com/game_detail.php?game_id=10485). I wish there was a proper way to emulate that game, with the unique controls and all. It's so simplistic, but I played a lot of it as a youth.

World Series: The Season

Love the voice. Really sucks playing it in MAME, though.

I remember a home run derby game at an arcade here that was a full batting cage with an actual bat. I think that was only good for 10-year-old me, though.

for some reason my go-to baseball mame game gets little mention:

Super Baseball 2020

I LOVE this game, and apparently seem to be one of the few. If you haven't tried the Neo Geo version (as opposed to the serverely borked ports) I recommend it.

For me, it was one of the Cinematronics/Leland games (Super Baseball, World Series Baseball, etc) - I remember playing it in the game room in college all the time!

I remember it kept full season records for your "profile", and while my offense ranked in the top 30% or so, my pitching stats were #1 or #2.

Wow, I remember World Series The Season at my local arcade was little... I never the played the thing but that logo is burned into my brain.

I know the Sega WSB arcade game always got a lot of use at my local arcade (which was also Frankie's local arcade) before it closed down.

I second the Sega WSB arcade games... probably the best "modern" baseball arcade games even if they are around 10 years old at this point...

I remember playing a baseball game in the late 80's - early 90's that had some sort of flicking bar mechanism for the bat. I always thought that it made a great batting control. I noticed a newer game at the local mall that used the same type of control (could be the same series of game).

That's World Series: The Season and its derivatives. I think there were like 3-4 other games that followed the same style, with later titles adding in a home run derby.

Those analog sticks make emulating it nearly impossible, though I was able to get it half-working the other day with a 360 controller.

I play RBI Baseball all the time.. its a lot of fun, I just wish there was a way to play the game with more modern lineups.

I thought this thread was about the old steal ball Baseball arcade games. I would love to have one of those in the rec-room!

It's no wonder those aren't around anymore, since they were all pilfered, apparently.

Darn - I was just thinking maybe the 360 analog stick could be used to emulate it's stick... Was it at least playable?
