Nice score but xbox's did not come with 5 gb hdd's,they came with 8 gigs.

I wouldn't know. I was checking the partition and it says it has a 5 GB one and a bunch of 750 MB ones. :P

I just picked up a boxed Wafadrive for the Sinclair ZX Spectrum, is this worth anything? If not I'll just bring it back to exchange for something else.

EDIT: I managed to find one completed auction for one of these, are they really worth so much or was it a fluke?

Finally a decent find for me. I had the chance to hit a flea market held at the local high school this morning and found a box of Sega stuff at one of the first booths I walked by.

It contained a Genesis Model 2, Sega CD Model 2, both power supplies, 2 controllers (3rd party), and an RF cable. It also game with a bunch of games. They are:

Tinhead - complete
Hardball III - cart, box
Spider-Man X-Men Arcade's Revenge - complete
Marble Madness - complete
Incredible Hulk - complete
Taz in Escape From Mars - cart, box
Tecmo Super Baseball - cart, box
Wrestlemania: The Arcade Game - cart, box
Doom (32X) - complete
Star Wars Arcade (32X) - cart, manual
Lethal Enforcers Gun Fighters (CD) - disc only

I asked what they wanted for the box and the woman replied, $60. I asked if she would sell some of the games separately and she came back and said that she could do $40 for everything. I went ahead and picked it up. It's not a bad deal if everything works.

Oh, I forgot to mention the other game that came with it. It is a copy of Castlevania Bloodlines. Unfortunately it is the cardboard box version, but it is in really nice shape and sealed. :D Don't know yet if it is a true factory seal, (I will be asking for help here on that one), but as long as the game inside is complete, it is a super deal overall.

I've got 3-4 of these tucked away in a box, and they're sealed exactly the same; I'm confident yours is original. Last I checked though, they're not really worth much. Still, pretty cool find!

Just found a boxed complete copy of Carnival for the Intellivision for 1.99 at Goodwill. Box is a little smushed down the left side, but it has the manual, the Coleco brochure, and the warranty card, and the cartridge looks like it's never been played.

Me too post on the seal legitimacy. It's real, mine is the same way. TRU had buckets of these right around 2000 so they don't go for more than $20-$30. The plastic case version is a different story though.

Thanks for the information. I figured that it probably wasn't worth much but at least it gave me a better deal. I did, however, pass on a yellow Pokemon GameBoy Color. I think that may have been a mistake since one just sold a few minutes ago for just short of $40.

Well, I didn't have the time to make it out to the garage sales yesterday however my in-laws pulled through for me.

http://i695.photobucket.com/albums/vv315/incubus421/626.jpg

- NES Zapper
- 2 nes contollers
- Mario/Duck Hunt
- Tyson's Punch Out
- Top Gun 1 & 2
- Mario Paint
TOTAL = $3

- Goldeneye 007
- Perfect Dark
- Gameshark Pro v3.3
TOTAL = $3

I'm not complaining...however I can't help but feel if they walked away with all of this...I probably could have made out like a bandit had I gone myself.

June round up

Pretty slow month for me. Haven't been big on finds for a while now but I have been accumulating junk on occasion:

http://i793.photobucket.com/albums/yy211/Jasonb1983/Finds/P6260029.jpg

- The boxed NES games were from a flea market vendor weeks back for a total of $20, mostly CIB. Contra is missing its manual, unfortunately, and Castlequest is missing the styrofoam block.

- The Atlus developed duo for the Gameboy, CosmoTank and Kwirk, were $3 each from a local game store today.

- I picked up Shadow of the Colossus, Katamari Damacy, and Lumines Plus during the B2G1 sale at GameStop last weekend for around $25-$30, I forget.

- No, I assure you I did not stumble upon those four Saturn imports for cheap prices. I've been paying average ebay market value for them. DonPachi and DoDonPachi (w/ spinecard) were $38 and $48 respectively, Kingdom Grandprix (w/ spinecard) was $42 I think, and Radiant Silvergun came in at $125. All four games are in pretty great shape, only niggle being the tiny crack in DonPachi's jewel case right where the Atlus logo is.

Stopped in a local "vintage" toy shop to find something neat for my nephew's birthday. Found something for him and sonething unexpected for myself:

Halo:Reach Legendary edition: $45 sealed.

I casually like Halo and enjoyed the demo, so I could not pass this up.

Turning Point: Fall of Liberty (brand new) - $1
Ford Focus Californopia Tour '99 CD - $1

Turning Point was a nice surprise - the game was brand new, but the outer plastic had some sort of stain so I just threw it away. The contents are still unused and this doesn't need a CD key so it's good.

The music CD contains a Save Ferris song so I picked it up for that alone.

Also, tomorrow is my birthday! I hope I find some good shit at the flea market. :D

Pretty crazy month for me nothing retro unfortunately but I'm down to a short list that's quite rare and the summer is a terrible thing for a student incredible boredom. Got a PS3 and bunch of games because that's what I seem to do whenever I have a new system. Also got Zelda 3D which I'm enjoying a fair bit.

PS3 slim 160 GB black ops bundle $218 with EB games trade in promotion
Bioshock 2 $10
God of War 3 $16
God of War Collection $30
Heavenly Sword $20
Heavy Rain $30
LA Noire $55
Little Big Planet $15
Ratchet and Clank Future a crack in time $10
Red Dead Redemption $0 Traded Black ops for it
Uncharted $16
Uncharted 2 $16

Still sitting on Killzone 3 Helghast Edition which I got for free with the PS3 from EB, but using it as trade bait.

Lastly Zelda 3d $15 trading in Pokemon white only.

I haven't had any decent finds in a while. Today I picked up Midnight Magic, Desert Falcon and Crypts of Chaos (loose) for the Atari 2600 for $1.99 each at a Movie Trading Company. A week or three ago I picked up a Speak N' Spell (no battery door) and an early '80s Tomy robot toy just for the hell of it. Last week I picked up a Bearnstein Bears game for the Philips CD-i and a Konami Laserscope for the NES. I only recognized the Laserscope because I had seen one in a Play N' Trade a couple weeks earlier. My finds have been so lackluster that I didn't bother taking a photo of them.

I am right there with you. Since my OVGE weekend 10 days ago, my sons and I have been on a renewed quest to find some retro stuff and we keep striking out. We've picked up some GBC games here and there at retail shops but all thrifts, Goodwills, and yard sales have been dry, dry, and more dry.

I walked into FX Game Exchange over the weekend and was told that they were doing a 75% of retail trade event for anything cartridge-based because their stock of vintage and retro stuff was getting very low. So, essentially they give me 75% of what they sell carts for in store credit. Well, I took down my entire trade/sell bins of Atari 2600 commons (about 60 carts) and Intellivision (about 35 carts) and a few other miscellaneous GBA/GBC/Colecovision commons and walk away with over $400 in store credit! Some examples - Atari 2600 Asteroids, Defender, Missile Command (extremely common) sell for $2.95 at the store, so I got $2.23 in credit for each one. I did take some of that credit and picked up:

Break Point Tennis (Saturn) - $4.45
Mass Destruction (Saturn) - $4.45
Space Jam (Saturn) - $4.45
Winter Heat (Saturn) - $4.4
Psychic Force 2012 (DC) - $8.95

All the games are in great shape and the Saturn cases aren't cracked! Also, Psychic Force is my 200th Dreamcast game! I'm going for them all.

I don't have pics, maybe I'll put them up maybe not but this weekend I found a NES console at a garage sale with 9 games. She had it marked $6 and I asked her if she'd take five for it since that's all me and my friends had left. She reluctantly accepted and I got a system with nine common games and all the controllers and hookups for it. The outside was pretty dirty but the console works like it was new.

A good find!

I would definitely give them a call and see if they are still doing the promo or not. Apparently they do a weekly email newsletter which I wasn't getting and that was the promo for last week. I'm guessing they have a different one this week. Considering the Atari and Intellivision carts I traded in were the ones in my $1 bin at OVGE, the $2+ in store credit for each game was great. And now, I don't have to worry about lugging them around to OVGE each year!! YES!!

Had an interesting visit to my local Goodwill. I saw that they had some Saturn games on the shelf. Surprise, surprise, they were the same games that I had left behind at another Goodwill near me. I left them behind again today. :-)

The one gaming item that I did pick up was the hardcover "Collector's Edition" of the stratedgy guie for Resident Evil 5. It even had the extra cardboard piece that has the advertising and UPC code on it with the book. The cost for this peice of gaming related goodness was $2.62.

On the way to pick up something after work I noticed a little yard sale, not much there - it seemed like a yard sale of the moment type thing. Almost like the people just occasionally pull crap out, put it out front and sit there, no signs, no nothing. They did have a few Radio Shack branded power adapters for Game Boy Color that were new, so I grabbed two of those.

And what I was on the way to pick up...

http://www.classicplastic.net/digitalpress/finds/DP-Finds-2011-06-29%2801%29.jpg

Rocketeer Adventures 1 and 2, both the standard cover. Issue two was released last week and issue one a month or so ago. I had totally forgotten about this but thankfully the comic store I frequent had one of the first issues kicking around still. There will be two more issues this summer. Awesome homage to Dave Stevens' most well-known creation with all new stories and artwork, but it's still all very true to the source material.

The only stuff I've had trouble with are operating systems and Home and Student Office software. Most of the time the buyers are smart (and patient) enough to listen to me when I say "Call Microsoft, they can help." Generally, anything retail and non educational has no problems at all. :)

The only stuff I've had trouble with are operating systems and Home and Student Office software. Most of the time the buyers are smart (and patient) enough to listen to me when I say "Call Microsoft, they can help." Generally, anything retail and non educational has no problems at all. :)
Do you just tell them to call Microsoft? I've sold a few Microsoft Office student sets locally and whenever someone has issues I post a link to Microsoft's site where they say to call them if there's activation issues. I also make sure to post the phone number to call in my email response. I try to walk them through it as much as possible(say you had to replace the hard drive and motherboard, etc) so they don't get confused or mad about it.

Um, it's not rare at all here. It's worth about $10, at least that's how much I can get for spare copies I come across.

Breetai, was that copy complete? Or sealed?

I had a couple of finds today, an N64 system with hookups and an NES system with hookups. I haven't tested them yet, but once I do I'll post a pic of the NES system. There's something odd about it, the plastic is perfectly smooth and the power adapter is official but very different compared to regular adapters. I think it may be an original launch unit or something similar.

If there's any activation issues, I explain what happened to them via email. I also tell them to try to install the software again, and once the activation error shows up, that they should call that phone number and that Microsoft customer service will help them activate the program at no charge. I don't give them any specific phone numbers because sometimes they're different depending on what software they're installing.

So today was kinda weird, Why? Well there's this one guy who's into video games. He often brings a ton of games for sale but today he had Dreamcast stuff.

http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j238/foxhack/DP/dp-2011-06-30a.jpg
I picked up Nightmare Creatures 2, House of the Dead 2 and a disc only Marvel Vs Capcom for the PS1 for $6 total (that Day of the Tentacle was $1 from another booth.) He tells me he's got a ton more stuff, so... I come back an hour later and he has this ready for me:

http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j238/foxhack/DP/dp-2011-06-30b.jpg
Two sealed VMUs and one opened one (but still unused)
Two Dreamcast fishing rod controllers
One MadCatz DC gun
One Sega DC gun
One Starfire Lightblaster DC gun
Two PS2 8MB memory cards (forgot to put them in the picture)

All for $27.

The VMUs are beat up to hell but hey, they're still brand new. He also had a ton of Sega VMUs and some third party jump packs for $1. In hindsight, I should've picked up a few. Eh, maybe tomorrow.

Oh yeah, after we finished this he told me he sold like 60 Ps1 games yesterday. I almost cried. :(

On vacation in Chicago, and my dad found a great retro game store, People Play Games. Very reasonable prices, and he had a digital Press guide in store as well. I got:

Patapon CIB 5.95

Cyborb Justice (genesis) 1.95

Ghostbusters (C64) 3.95

Famicom import copy of Yoshi CIB 11.95

All iin all, i could have splurged, but i tried to not waste all my money. I wish i took a gander at their gameboy shelf, i really need Kirby's Dreamland 2.

While out cycling in the 103 degree heat of Texas this afternoon, I stopped at a Half Price Books to get some air conditioning and take a quick break. Glad I did!! On the shelf were Genesis games (already a semi-rare occurence), but these were mint in mint boxes with manuals (rare occurence), and I actually needed most of them (super RARE occurence). So I put them on hold and went back tonight to pick them up (with my 15% off coupon of course) and here's what I came home with:

Winter Challenge (box with lid-style cardboard case) - complete
Taz-Mania - complete
Ariel the Little Mermaid - complete
Bubsy II - complete (with Accolade warranty card, brady games offer, etc.)
Boogerman - complete
Sylvester and Tweety in Cagey Capers - complete (with black/white manual)
Ms. Pac-Man (complete)
Castle of Illusion - missing manual (but I already have this so it's for a friend)

Total of all of these came to about $25 - just over $3 each! Great way to end my month!

You paid 60 bucks for donkey kong classics? Is it really rare in canada or something?

You would be surprised at the prices in Canada but quite frankly retro games are quite scarce up here. I'm gonna guess it's a population thing and I bet the states has 10x more retro games and thus the supply is far larger and you can get games without giving a left arm. Therefore, we get ripped off quite often for anything old pretty much if it's from a store. For example Top gun for 19.99? Chrono Trigger loose 79.99? That's obviously too much it's to the point that I will not buy anything from a store unless it's incredibly rare and somewhat worth that value. I've seen Donkey Kong classics for $17 but that was closer to the states might be 29.99 in other stores. You really have to know what games are worth or your gonna drain your wallet in no time and not get much of a collection going.

Was walking around the Alpine Village Swap Meet yesterday when my eyes were caught by a PlayStation console with RCA jacks on the back. Further inspection revealed...

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v203/orangest/CIMG2336.jpg

It's a model #3500, and forgiving my ignorance, will a US power supply work on it? Also picked up and Hollywood Video Xbox Panzer Dragoon Orta Demo Disc at the swap. A bit beaten but only $1.

NHL Open Ice and Vampire Hunter D were $5.99 Goodwill finds from yesterday. UFC was $3.99 at a different Goodwill today. Devil Dice, Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo and Parappa were $2.99 Salvation Army pickups today. The lack of a SPF2T manual was balanced by the presence of the Parappa poster, which looks like it's hardly been touched. The Final Fantasy tribute CD was found at the same Sally; more info on that one here (http://finalfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/The_Best_of_Final_Fantasy_1994_-_1999:_A_Musical_Tribute).

From an Out of the Closet thrift: GC Super Smash Bros. Melee was $7 and a sealed Wii Samba de Amigo was $5. 3 sealed copies of The Joker's Wild! (Joker, Joker and a Triple!) for the CDi were $2 each.

There shouldn't be any issues with using 120V input so long as it is a standard issue NTSC-J model. If the rating on the sticker on the bottom is ~100-127V then you're good to go. Nice find all the same, if it works.

You can use any ordinary cable that will fit and it will power up fine, I had a Japanese unit and could play CDs on it(I lacked Japanese games). The power supply itself is built into the console, the cord is just a plain cord.

However, the power cord for a US Playstation won't fit in a Japanese system, the US cord is square on one side but the Japanese one is rounded. My system came with the Japanese cord. You can use a Japanese cord on a US playstation though.

EDIT: It's already July, I'm surprised there's no July thread yet.

Wii System - 30
SNES With 6 Games & (Not Pictured) 2 1st Party Controllers, Hookups. GBP & Ecco The Dolphin Handheld - 20
Microvision With Vegas Slots - 1
3 NES Games - 1 Each
3 PS1,2 Games On The Left In The Picture (No Manual With Shadow Hearts) - 7
3 Genesis Games, RF Adaptor & N64 Memory Pak - 1
PS2 Network Adaptor - 2
2 GBA Games - .50 Each
Mario Strikers Charged (No Manual, From The Week Before) - 5
Saints Row (360) - 3
Tetris Worlds - Free
Twisted Metal Black Online (Insert = Copy But I'm Guessing It Never Had One) - 1
NES With (Not Pictured) Hookups & 1st Party Controller, NDS Pen, Family Guy: Freakin Sweet (UMD Only) & (Not Pictured) PSP Cord To Hook Up To TV - 3

If nothing mentioned for disk based games they are complete. Tried to offered 20 for the Wii, they wouldn't budge but figured I'd hate myself if I passed on it. Wanted 25 for the SNES bundle and 10 for the Ecco & GBP. I said I was thinking more like 10 for the SNES bundle and they ended up offering it all for 20. I already cleaned the NES & SNES systems but even before cleaning the SNES it was in really nice shape easily the best looking SNES this year. The 3 NES games were half off at the Salvation Army while I was out YSing. The 3 pack of Shadow Hearts+ was asking 3 each I offered 5 total and we meet in the middle. This was the same (unadvertised) sale I got Conker for the Xbox & Mario Party 3 from last year, another guy had Digital Devil Saga 2 that he picked out who was looking at the PS1,2 games just before me. Offered a buck for the Genesis games & misc from a box of random stuff. Offered 2 for the PS2 network adaptor. I helped carry a big TV to the back of somebody's van at one sale and when I offered a buck for Tetris Worlds they said I could have it for helping out. The NES, Family Guy & PSP cord were all marked a buck so it was like I got the NDS pen added in that didn't have a price (not that it's a BFD). A few other things I didn't mention were all asking price.
