View Full Version : Anyone know how to compile DVE as a Win32 binary?

I'm not sure if this is the right forum for this, however....
I have the source code for the DOS Vectrex Emulator and I was wondering if anyone knew how to compile it into a working Windows application.
My reason? MESS has made a ...er...mess (heh) of emulating the Vectrex. First the overlay support dissapeared and now the games show up as square. (Ever see a square Vectrex screen before?) I'd like to use DVE itself, but now that I'm using XP, it doesn't work.

So, ... any ideas? Has anyone done this themselves or have advice to offer?

I would imagine a large portion of the code would have to be re-written to work in a Win32 environment, implementing many things such as Direct Sound and so forth. Nobody has done it and I doubt anyone will. I guess using Mess is the only alternative for now...unless anybody out there knows of a Win32 based Vectrex emulator other than this one?

You could always use a older version of MESS for just vectrex until they fix it in a new version. Not necessarily what you want to hear, but it is an option.
