What is the oldest gamers that you know of, that doesn't play the Wii?
My GF's father has an NES clone that he brought onto himself to go to the game store to get. And on that he likes to play Super Mario Bros, SMB 2, SMB 3, and Double Dribble. He's gonna be 70 this year.
I know another guy that's 55 and he plays XBOX 360 like a religion.
It seems that older people that play games (that is not the Wii) is hard to come by.

My friend's father is in his 50's, and he plays quite a bit of Call of Duty. Last I checked (which was a few months ago) he was around 10th prestige in Black Ops. The man works from home (head honcho for the transportation division of some company), so he has a lot of time on his hands.

I am almost 59 - the last new system I bought was a gamecube - and that was mostly for the gameboy player.
I still play my older systems whenever I get the chance - which seems to be less and less frequent each year (we bought a bigger house with a really large yard back in 2003 and while I like the yard a lot it does suck up time like a gravity well).

My mom turned 55 this year. She has and still plays her 2600, NES, and 3DO. She also has a Wii, but she plays the 3DO the most. When she visits, she spends a fair bit of time with my 360, but that's mainly just for Rock Band.

I've mentioned it here before, but my dad is 65 and plays his xbox 360 and N64 all the time. I just bought him Dead Space in April. He's been playing games for as long as I can remember...or at least since 1982 when he brought home our first 2600.

My mom still play's MB 3 on the NES's (Is that a word?) that I keep supplying her. Allthough she does play animal crossing on her Wii and DSlite. I think she's 61 now.
Mother-in-law is 70 and play's the hell out of her DSiXL, she's allready burned through 2 DS lites.
Dad still play's pac-man like a rabid demon also and he's 61. He has an old gamecube hooked up in their bedroom, with an old GBA and link cable.
So yeah.

What game(s) keep her coming back to the 3DO?

One of my band's old bass players is in his early 50s and he told me he is a hardcore 8-bit Nintendo player/collector. He's trying to find this obscure Japanese title and is having a hard time tracking a copy down.

What game(s) keep her coming back to the 3DO?
Mainly Icebreaker. Both the original one and the later unreleased Icebreaker 2. Incredible Machine get some play, but Icebreaker seems to be the real draw.

I bought my centipede arcade from a lady that looked around 60, she said she kept it in her bedroom and played it all the time.. until it died
she also came up with a blackout fabric piece that flips down to cover the screen at night (instead of turning it off)
it's become a nice house decoration for me, one day I'll get it going

My grandmother played video games into her 70s, since she had an Atari 2600 hooked up in her bedroom for as long as she lived on her own with my grandpa. She was quite good at River Raid until she had a stroke that messed with her coordination.
More recently, my friend Kinn aka Robotron (RIP) was about 46, and gamed primarily on older platforms (from the 2600 up through the PS2 and Gamecube) and the PS3. I believe he still has some of the top scores on Shatter...

My father played games up until a few years ago, he found his dream car to restore so that takes up his time now. Either way he still has a genesis hooked up in the garage. Hes big into Adventure & platform games. Guys gotta be 60 at this point...
My buddies father is one of those War-nuts people, so he plays call of duty and all that garbage religiously, hes disabled too so its ALL that he does, like he will have some war movie on one television and be playing black ops on another TV right next to it.

That comes from me. I had gotten out of console gaming during the Commodore and Amiga years. When I was starting to get back into consoles, the 3DO was the first one that I had and spent any real time with. She saw the games I was playing and got into the puzzlers I had at the time. For some reason, Icebreaker specifically grabbed her to the point that when I stopped playing the 3DO in favor of the Saturn, she asked if she could hang on to it and keep playing.
I eventually had to replace the system as she still has the original one that I bought back in the 90s.

A couple of weeks ago at a yard sale, I bought a bunch of Atari carts from a guy who had to be at least in his 70's. He told me he still had his 2600 and some of his favorite games and still loved playing it.

I'm 56 and cart gaming is where I spend most, if not all, of my gaming time. NES, SNES, TG 16, Sega Genesis, GB Pocket, yeah that's what I'm talking about.

ME! I am 43, don't play Wii or 360 or PS3. I DO play just about every significant console before all of those and I have a decent PC for my "modern" gaming fix. :)

My dad turns 80 this year - while he hasn't played anything too recently, a few years ago he was bored, so I hooked up a Dreamcast for him and set him loose on Sega Bass Fishing and Sega Marine Fishing (with the fishing controller) - he played them daily for about a good 2 months.

I was hoping it was "Plumbers Don't Wear Ties".....oh well.
My mother is 51 and she plays Tetris daily on the old B&W Gameboy that I bought her many years ago. Maybe it's time to upgrade her to a DS system!

Or get her a SNES with a Super Gameboy. Then she can play the game comfortably, and she can play some Mario All Stars too.

Can the gameboy player on gamecube play original gameboy games? that'd probably be cheaper since GCNs aren't worth anything.

Honestly I am not sure about that. I would Google it but I am on my phone at the moment.

Yes it can, it's just like a Gameboy Advance with backwards compatibility. I don't think it's cheaper though, the system is cheap but the player is expensive with the bootup disc. You can get a SNES for $10 if you're patient, a Super Gameboy is around $10 or less.

While I don't know that many older gamers personally I have ran into several gamers in the 40-60 age range over Xbox live the past several years. They are out there, they just aren't always so easy to find.
