Army Of Darkness (Atari 2600)

Army of Darkness is a new Atari 2600 game based on the Army of Darkness (Evil Dead 3) movie starring Bruce Campbell. You are Ash (Bruce Campbell) sent back in time to protect the Necronomicon and keep it from falling into the hands of the Deadite Army. In a Castle under siege by Deadites you are the last line of defense. The castle gates have fallen and you must keep the Deadites from crossing the drawbridge and entering the keep. Let one Deadite get by and it's Game Over, For Everyone!

Army of Darkness is a shooting game. Blast away at the Deadites as they cross the drawbridge. The Deadites will attack in different formations and speeds. Levels are broken up by Bosses who take multiple hits so watch out for Evil Ash and a Giant Skeleton.

Game features DIGITIZED VOICE! At the beginning of each game Bruce Campbell says,
" Hail to the King Baby ".

Army of Darkness was made to be signed by Bruce Campbell, Ted Raimi and Timothy Quill at the Spooky Empire Event May 27-29, 2011 in Orlando, Florida USA. The label was designed with black space to allow the autographs to be clear. This is an original game designed for the Atari 2600 and will play just like one of the original games for the system.

Promising. The Evil Dead series are some of my favorite movies.

I see Bruce's signature but not Ted or Timothy.

Did you eventually get those?

What did Bruce think of the concept of a fully produced homebrew Atari 2600 Army of Darkness game? He was a young man in the days of the 2600, I'm sure that he'd be familiar with the hardware.

Bruce had so many people waiting hours to see him that I only had a few seconds to talk to him. He seemed to know what the cartridge was and I was only able to briefly describe the game to him. When I mentioned that the game had his voice saying, "Hail to the King Baby", His reply was. "Groovy!". Very nice guy.

I was able to get everyone there to sign a cartridge. Tom Sullivan drew the Kandarian Dagger on the back of the cartridge. Everyone was very nice and really interested in seeing something different.

Timothy Quill will be signing a specially made photo card that will be included in the Premium versions of the game.

Yeah, Bruce is a consummate professional when it comes to treating his fans with respect.

Years and years ago, 1998 I think, an ex-roommate of mine had an Army of Darkness posted that Bruce signed "To Rob: My only true friend."

When I met Bruce I told him about that poster and asked him to sign my own A.O.D. poster "To Frankie: My OTHER only true friend." so I could hang the poster next to my roommate's for comedic effect.

He refused, and instead decided on his own to sign my poster "To Frankie: My only ex-friend." apparently for some reason, according to him I was now his enemy (I wasn't really, but he thought that would be funnier, and the pairing of the posters on our living room wall still had a funny "effect" even if not quite the one I had desired!)
