AR cards. We've got the initial 6 that come with the 3DS. More may very well becoming with Kid Icarus as over 20 we're shown at E3. I bet Pokemon 3DS will have them, 3rd parties will have them at some point etc

So there may be a sizeable amount in the next few years. Add in their somewhat disposable nature (easy to lose/tear) and how people love to collect cards anyway, can you see them becoming collectable in 5-10 years? Although that doesn't neccesarily mean valuable.

eReader cards aren't too valuable so I'd say these won't either. Won't hurt for people like us to roll with a full set though.

Not sure about the cards being disposed of over time. I think most people today don't allow cards of any type to be torn or lost. This attitude comes from the popularity of cards from Magic the Gathering and Pokemon, and in a smaller sense, baseball cards. I bet a lot of 3DS owners have their six cards carefully stored away somewhere (I do).

As far as collectibility, I think the card system for 3DS will be forgotten about when the next Nintendo handheld comes out.

Of course, some company out there may start producing 3DS card packs that contain "rare" cards, and that would change everything.

They'd be worth something if they do random packs of them, from a large set. If it's a set of 5-10 for a game, that are either packed w/ the game, or sold as a simple set then no, because everyone will have the same cards.
