Months ago on the old board, I announced that I was stopping to actively collect (save for a few titles). This was met with a lot of skepticism. I am pleased to say that by and large I have stuck to this.

I now feel rehabilitated. I no longer feel the urge to stop at every yard sale or game store I see. I don't troll ebay regularly, and can even go days w/out checking this board. I only recently ordered my new price guide and I can't even recall the last game I added to my collection.

Not that I have neglected my gaming hobby in the past few months. What this has allowed me to do is spend time on a variety of projects that I have been putting off for too long. These include:
My own version of the MasterPlay interface which is 75% done.
I built a variety of multicarts for my own use.
I began work on my 2600 game code named: Merlin. - expected release either CGE '03 or Philly '04.
Discovered the exciting world of DC emulation.
Played thorough most of the Jag BJL games.
Beat my Crime Fighters upright.

And in the technical albeit non-gaming realm, I have finally built my linux box and my home network. Also in my spare time I am now researching various microprocessors to be used in an upcoming HW project.

Probably the best part has been rediscovering my collection as a gamer and not just as a collector. I recommend taking at least a month off from the "hunt" and joining Gamer's Anonymous. See how you do, what good is having hundreds of games if you haven't played most of them.
