i went to a thrift store. saw a small PS section, found 3 games i never thought i would see in a thrift store.

Star Wars Rebel Assault 2
Evil Dead Hail to the King
and
Resident Evil Directors Cut dual shock edition W Resident Evil Nemesis demo.
Did i get a really good deal or was i just very damn lucky?

I'd pay $1 for an Evil Dead game.

Re-sell wise you did solid! Thrifts are more competetive then you would think when it comes to the old gaming market. Even with employees. I do a trip a week to the thrifts. (I use to do pawnshops too till they caught on...gone are the days of ff7 black, castlevania SOTN, Conkers, Marip Party ect for $2). Some weeks I score, this week pikmin 2 for $2. Other weeks its a bust. I'll say I did much better picking up games on a steal 08-09 then I have 10-11.

A $1 a game is always good for a non-sports game, with few exceptions.

depending on the case type i even buy sports games, if the cases are in good condition

those smaller PAL cases are tough to find in good condition and i'd be happy to pay $1 for them

Honestly I pass on PS1 games at $1 unless I personally want them or I know are valuable. Most PS1 games, even non-sports games, are about as desirable as VHS tapes or DVDs. I don't want to be stuck with most of them for months just trying to flip them for $1-2 profit.

Good deal. Plus you got the version of Resident Evil that has the new music that is "so bad, it's good."

Any game for $1 is worth picking up IMHO.

ps. We have a "finds" thread (stickied above) for this sort of stuff :)

true, but sometimes i buy them to flesh out my trade pile a bit..
but Fifa etc i just pass on, unless they're in the small box variant like i said before

I know you mean that $1 isn't good for some non-sports games, but I'm wondering about the reverse: which sports games it would be true would be worth more than a $1. I know of only one (for the Playstation, anyway): Blast Lacrosse. Are there other PS1 sports titles that are worth any money?

depends offcourse how far you stretch the sports category

in PAL PS1 you have the FIFA World Cup '98 HMV exclusive version which is quite hard to find. Other soccer games that can be tough to find are Prime Goal and Goalstorm
For NTSC i'm not sure (cuz I only collect the rpg's there) but I think those aforementioned are quite hard to find (HMV is pal only)

For PS2 the only rare "sports" game i can think of at the moment is PAL Fire Pro Wrestling Returns

If I ever go to a swap meet again I'll hold you to that, any game I have priced at $1 or less you'll pick up. ;)

It depends on the title, most PS1 games just don't sell well. I have a few games I don't want and I'm asking $3 each, no interest locally yet and they aren't sports titles either. For me it's just not worth the time and effort to buy crappy games at $1 each just to be stuck with them taking up space. Nobody wants to trade for crappy games either, and unlike other cart based systems I can't bundle games together and still get a good amount for them.

I have a pile of DVDs for $3 each as well with no interest, and with the cost of shipping it's not worth trading them online individually unless I get an offer highly slanted in my favour(which just won't happen). I'm glad I don't buy DVDs new as most have no value.
