I recently bought a lot of NES carts from someone and included was "VS. The Goonies".
I know it wasn't ever released as a cartridge. What would this be worth?

That's a Reproduction cartridge made by the Video Game Kingdom guys! I have the same cartridge. Good stuff!

VGK = dave2236, btw.

Why someone would throw that in a lot is beyond me. Could easily sell it separately for $20.

Is this game any fun? I was thinking about picking this up and the Kid Dracula repro.

Yes, this is a very fun game! I got it with several other Repros at MCG this year.

I actually prefer this one to the sequel... just feels more arcade-y (that, and there's no stupid point and click sections)

new these are like 30.00, so you can probably get $20-25 for it. Throw it up on ebay and Im sure a bunch of slack jawed yokels that dont know about repro's could drive the paying price up pretty high (Seen a repro of Nightmare Busters and Baby Upa both go for close to a hundred bucks and more)....Im not saying this is right and Id never sell my repros on ebay, I just felt like pointing that out because its so silly.

you need the original famicom cart and a famicom to nes converter (like from early gyromite or whatever) in order to get the English translated cart.

Isn't the game already in English, or at least a game that it doesn't matter?
I don't think I paid more than like $5+shipping for an original.

$100 for a repro of Baby Upa? Isn't that about what an original cart sells for?
A waste considering the title screen was the only thing translated. :P

But, then again, that wasn't about me, it's about what people who don't know better would pay.

You're telling me? I DID THAT! (http://www.foxhack.net/trans/bio-miracle-baby-upa/)

Hell, that title screen was designed and made by me, so technically they're selling something I drew up without my consent. I could DMCA the repro cart creators.

...

*evil grin*

I should contact the person that made the title screen for Kid Dracula, too. I don't like people making money off stuff I create for free. But that's another topic.

I mean, a waste to possibly destroy an original cart. If someone's going to pay that much to play the game, might as well buy the original. It will still be just as playable.
It's cool to play it in an emulator or flashcart (I know I myself have done a couple title only hacks).

What's the difference between The Goonies and Vs. The Goonies?

VGK appears to be down. It's sold on NESreproductions, but not the Vs. version...

Well, since it cost a coin for each game, the VS version is probably harder (enemies do more damage, etc.), colors seem different between MAME and an NES emulator, but maybe that's because the VS games used a different PPU.
Also, can't pause in the VS version, again, because it charges per game (unlike PlayChoice-10, which charged strictly based on time).
