Game won't read controller (NES)

Ok, so I got a copy of the game Infiltraitor and I turn it on, the title screen comes up and then nothing. I press all the buttons on the controller and still just on the title screen. I know it is not the controller because I have used the same one before and after trying this game with no problem. Tried it on both toaster and retron 3 and the game doesn't respond.

Any idea what it is/ what I could do?

Dirty connectors? Have you tried cleaning the game?

I opened up the cart and cleaned the contacts with an eraser and wiped it with a decent cloth and there nothing else cominng off the contacts. Still nothing past the title screen,

I remember having this issue with this game as well. Unfortunately, it has been so long since I last played it, I don't remember how I got it to work. Did you try waiting a little while and then starting the game?

I'm trying to do some organizing with my games soon, and if I come across it, I will pull it out and give you a better answer (if someone hasn't already taken care of it by then).

OK, I found the game!

It works, but you do have to wait for the title screen to come up. None of the buttons work while the copyright page is up.

Does your game go through the copyright screen, then take you to the main screen?
