Hello all, I am shopping around and i found a few games that I wanna get but only have enough for 1. I am looking at

Fantasy Zone-case and manual
Legendary Axe 2-case and manual
Aero Blasters - case and manual
Military Madness- case and manual
Final Lap Twin - unopened, but i am going to :P

These are the games i am looking at, I just bought Neutopia and R-type, Nuetopia 2 is a pain to find at any decent price.

I can't find the buy and sell forum...so i don't know if you guys have any better deals for me other than eBay, Thanks you guys.

The Buy/Sell forum becomes available to you after 10 days. Hang tight.

As far as my personal recommendation, I've always been a huge mark for the Legendary Axe games. They're brutally hard, but really unique where Turbo Grafx games are concerned.

Legendary Axe 2 is great. Aeroblasters is great. Have not played Fantasy Zone or Final Lap Twin.

That said. Get Military Madness...it's an awesome strategy game. My favorite startegy game of the era...

All of the games are great. I love Legendary Axe II though. Military Madness is also very good if you like strategy games.

Military Madness for my money's worth. :D

If you love Advance Wars, you'll love this and get more bang for ya buck I say.

Those are all great selections, however Military Madness gets my vote if I had to chose. It's also the best value for the money if all of these games are priced in the same ballpark.

Actually, it's a trick question. The correct answer is Parasol Stars.

Legendary Axe 2 or Military Madness no question.

Military Madness if you want something a little different.

If I could choose only one, absolutely I would pick Military Madness. I even have Neo Netaris on my iPhone, the formula holds up so well. Great strategy game, even today.

Thanks for the info guys! Yes they are all priced relatively close (except final lap twin). Military Madness has my eye, i wanna see how it is. I will probably go for that. I already have Legendary Axe 1, and two looked alright. I did read or something that it has the same sprite replacement like Super mario bros 2.

ANYWAY, what else should i look for, that is a reasonable price. I want to slowly collect all the US Hucards that i can, starting with the smaller ones of course.

Is sidearms any good?

No sprite replacement at all... maybe you're thinking about Cratermaze (same as arcade) / Doraemon (sprite replacement) or JJ&Jeff / Kato & Ken?

Anyway, of the above games, I'd recommend Aeroblasters for an easy game to get into. If you actually like strategy, by all means, get Military Madness! Be sure to get Legendary Axe II if only for the fantastic atmosphere and the best music on the system.

And Sidearms is great! Frustrating, but an oldskool arcade blaster with really good Capcom-programmed music.

Is fantasy zone any good?

i am thinking about this Military madness, sidearms (plus a free game from seller :D)

Then fantasy zone on its own...If FZ sucks or something, then legendary axe 2?

Fantasy Zone is alright, but it has nothing on Legendary Axe and Military Madness. If anything, you want those two because those are exclusive to the console and really are staples of the Turbo's library.

Well i ended up buying military madness and sidearms

Now i want to try and get a third game

^^^you mentioned your thoughts on fantasy zone, here is my list for third game

Fantasy zone
Legendary axe 2
alien crush (found it cheap, this i just want to know if any good)
Final lap twin

Fantasy Zone is the weakest of all of the games in that list, IMO, and I might be THE biggest fan of the series here (Fantasy Zone II is tied for my favorite video game of all time). It's really just something to have, but it has the least amount of debt of any game mentioned, and is available on several other consoles. You can run through it in literally 5 minutes, and the game just repeats over again and again after the seventh(?) stage. You basically play it until you're bored because the challenge is such that you can play it infinitely if you good enough, which doesn't take much time at all.

I'd but the games in this order by appeal:

Military Madness
Legendary Axe 2
Aero Blasters
Final Lap Twin
Fantasy Zone

You might swap Legendary Axe 2 and Aero Blasters depending on how much you're into shooters vs. action platformers. Honestly, LA2 got the number 2 slot on my list because you already own the first one and I have a thing about completing series.

EDIT: I just saw your updated post. Dude, purchase Alien Crush immediately. That game is AWESOME.

I have a soft spot for shooters, which is why i got sidearms.

Fantasy zone just looked fun to me, i do agree too easy..i think he is check off

I do need to complete me LA series lol, so leaning heavily toward LA2

So now my list comes down to this

Legendary axe 2
Alien crush...

Jisho23
06-14-2011, 10:31 AM
Yeah, if the price is good don't even think twice about Alien Crush. Otherwise, I actually find Legendary Axe 2 to be the strongest on that list.

Granado_jake

13 bucks a good price?

allyourblood
06-14-2011, 10:58 AM
$13 sounds reasonable if it's in the case with instructions. If you like pinball games, AC is one of the best from the 16-bit era. At this point, you can't go wrong with either AC or LA2, so just choose whichever one now and get the other next paycheck (or whenever).

Oh, and as for Sidearms, get ready: I'm a huge shooter fan, and Sidearms looks and plays fantastic, but it becomes tear-your-controller-in-half frustrating very quickly. Still, it's one of the finer games on the system, and a nice addition to any collection.

I hope that it is difficult, still havent beat Super star soldier lol, i think i have gotten to level 6?

So now my list comes down to this

Legendary axe 2
Alien crush...I say Alien Crush, all the way. It'll diversify our collection, and since you're just starting out I think it's a good idea to get a broad range of genres. Especially when the selections are all quality picks.

Alien Crush FTW!

I've had sessions with that game that have lasted hours. One of the most brilliant video pinball games of that or any era!

I vote for Alien Crush as well. That was one of the first games I bought from the virtual console when I got my wii.

I have never really played any video pinball games though..I want it to have a good value for me.

I have never really played any video pinball games though..I want it to have a good value for me.It's not really sim'ish or anything, it's got all sorts of video game quirkiness to it. The table is like a huge, living alien environment, with all sorts of nasty freaky things to attack and disturb, and there are little bonus games you play along the way that are extremely 'video gamey' in nature, and not very pinball'ish at all.

I'd never played a pinball themed video game before Alien Crush either, and I'm NOT a big pinball fan to begin with, but Alien Crush just had to much charm and uniqueness that I'd play it for hours at a time. Still, if it's not your cup of tea, that's understandable. Perhaps you could borrow a copy, or emulate it to test it out before you decide to purchase or pass on it.

Technically Legendary Axe II is rarer than Alien Crush, if they're the same price you might want to get that as it would be easier to find Alien Crush in the future. That said, I enjoy Alien Crush a bit more than Legendary Axe II. Both are good, I just like the pinball game more. Devil's Crush is also good.

I know you didn't specifically ask, but I was thinking about inexpensive Turbografx games and one game that should be at the top of almost everyone's list is Ninja Spirit. They must've produced a lot of this game because its price has remained very low over the years, but it's a remarkable arcade-port ninja platformer.

The visuals, music and controls, while not arcade-perfect, are about as good as you can ask for with the TG16. I usually end up playing through it about once a year; it's short but sweet.

Ninja spirit came along with my system when i first got it, Complete. I hated it the first time i played it.

I hope you guys didn't do me wrong, I have Military Madness, Sidearms, and Victory Run (as a free gift), coming in the mail, hopefully be here by Friday if nothing gets f*cked up in the mail where I live.

Still up in the air about Alien Crush, Legendary Axe II...can't figure out which would be better.

I would take suggestions for other games in place of the above to, tell me what you like about it!

Thanks you all, Neutopia, and R-type have been played the most recently for me.

I just figured it out, I meant that it was re-branded as here in the states. According to (yes Wikipedia), it was made by same company, same game engine, just a sort of "expansion" on the universe/gameplay created

Wow, that's a new one for me. Does that mean you don't hate it now??

Anyway, I also think World Class Baseball is fun and of course, dirt cheap. Since you've already played Neutopia, be sure to play the sequel if you don't mind spending a decent chunk of change on it someday. The first two Bonk games are relatively inexpensive and they're both great.

You mean LA and LAII share the same engine? If that's what you mean, then they don't. The first LA was developed by Aicom and LAII was developed by Atlus and/or Red (going by credits and GDRI research.)

People criticized LAII for being too different from LA, accusing NEC of America of doing a rebadge of some sort, but even in Japan the games were meant to have a connection to each other. LA was named "Makyou Densetsu" and LAII was "Ankoku Densetsu"... similar in gameplay but different in setting (like the Alien/Devil/Jaki Crush series.)

I hope you guys didn't do me wrong.

Remember sir, when you ask for the opinions of the masses you are at the mercy of those opinions.

While I think you can trust the DP community when it comes to the quality of classic games, there really is no universal truth when it comes to personal opinions. You're ultimately going to "like" what you like and nothing we say about how good a game is is going to change that.

Though, IMO you've listed really solid selections from the TG library. Hard to lose with any of them.

No i love it! I just had to press select, thought (first time) that i only had sword, and i was only testing to make sure it worked. But now, i play it quite often, very fun and addicting stage where you can jump onto the ceiling keeps getting me though

I trust you guys, i am sure that the games will be awesome, i just wanted to hear people's opinions of games they personally like, also the ones on my list. Thanks!
