What do Richard Levy of Bethesda and Ron Milner of Atari have in common? Video gaming? Forget that junk, because on this Flag Day I'd like to remind everyone that they were also the brains behind "The Wave," the self-waving American Flag. Old Glory looks great waving in the wind, and so the two devised a miniature desktop flag that could wave by itself.

Originally retailing for $19.99, the thing uses coils within the flag to cause it to wave through electrical power provided by 3 AA batteries. It was originally revealed in February 2006 at the International Toy Fair in New York. Though no longer manufactured despite being a big hit with politicians and common folk alike, it can still be found at various places on the Internet for around $40.

Did I mention it also plays your choice of three different patriotic songs and includes an adjustable volume knob? I think I just might have to buy this as a gift for my Oma.
