Yes, Robin Williams loved the game so much, he named his daughter after it. Miyamoto must be farting rainbows now. Ok, maybe not, but I would be.
Anyway, the new Ocarina of Time commercial was amazing.

I'm surprised at how candid this looked (the interview portion) and not forced at all. It's pretty cool and refreshing to see Nintendo doing something like this, even if it's kind of weird.

So, she's really named after the game and not Zelda Fitzgerald? I'd heard that before, in fact I saw it in a tabloid sometime in the late 80s or early 90s, but I'd always figured it was just wanking from people without a good grasp on history. Kinda cool to find out that it was true, though.

In the book High Score (IIRC), it mentions how much Williams was a fan of the original Wizardry on the Apple II. So he's been a video game geek for quite a long time now.

Robin Williams is definitely more nerdy than people give him credit for. From what I understand, he's a huge Evangelion fan too, and I've always wondered if he'd do some voice work for the Rebuild films.
If Nintendo did these ads, I wouldn't be surprised if they brought him on when they finally do a voiced Zelda game. Even if they just continue with the grunts and moans that the last few games have had, I think he'd be a good fit. I've heard he's ungodly expensive, though...

He was also a big Day of Defeat player back in the day. I can't remember where I heard/seen this though. I think in an interview he said he played it a lot and was active in the forums.

Apparently, Zelda Williams is now the unofficial queen of /v/ due to her visiting it and intentionally acting like "Cake is a Lie" was still funny just to troll everyone. Looks like humor runs in her family at somewhere past the speed of sound. :)
