View Full Version : Non working genny model 2

I have 2 sega genesis model 2s but neither of them work, the red light only comes on sometimes if i twist the power supply cable, i tried cleaning about every inch inside the genny and still doesnt work, any helP
?

Have you tried re-flowing the power jack solder points on the motherboard well pushing it down, sometimes the power jack is just lose which happens alot to me when I pick up a new gen 2, I also heard that the inside of the power jack gets rusted which hasn't happen to me yet.

I second that. I actually just had to do this with a Model 2 Genesis yesterday.

Good chance it is the above mentioned but you can easily check it by plugging the power cord in while the board is outside of the case. Could be arcing visible or shifting of the solder pads.

Could also be the power cable itself if its an original. I've got upwards of 15 Genesis controllers and a handful of power cables from the early 90s and most of them look less than awesome.

Does it ever show the licensing notice on screen? Curious as to if it functions at all or if its just a power problem.
