So none of the Gamestops here in my area are not having a midnight launch for this game. Which I find weird since they did it for Super Smash Bros Brawl and Mario Kart Wii. I know, I should wait till Sunday morning, but I just wanted it at midnight. So I've heard that payroll, demand and employee availablity determines whether there can be midnight launches or not. I'm curious, what else determines midnight launches?

I always heard part of it was tied to how many reservations a game gets

That's correct - # of pre-orders over certain amount = enough sales to warrant the extra payroll.

Since so few people have a 3DS, midnight seems pointless.

Most of the Nintendo launches have gone to early sunday morning openings. I think it is due to the fact that (not to sound crass) but most Nintendo fans are younger and their parents do not want to go out to a midnight. Pokemon was always a 9 am Sunday open, there have been some others too but all Nintendo.

I think that the Nintendo 3DS is selling poorly .... that should be reason enough to avoid a midnight launch.

The game can be found in Mexico like a week ago, not officially but many informal commerce have contact with official distributors and they buy large lots underwater ....

This should have been a launch title, period. I think that the 3DS can still sell, but it will not be the smashing success of the DS until its price comes down to reality with its market of a younger audience.

I'm pretty sure that midnight launches can be "bought" by publishers. When Halo Wars launched at midnight, it was just me, 2 other grungy dudes, and the manager at my local Gamestop... I almost didn't go, but I was up anyways that night, so I caved. He said there were only a handful of preorders compared to their usual midnight launches, but corporate pushed the midnight "event" and allotted extra man-hours for it. I'm not knowledgable at all about Gamestop's inner workings, but it seems they wouldn't be above selling midnight launch slots.

Possibly I don't see why they couldn't be bought. I've never really cared about midnight launches simply because I have to get uP to go to work and all picking up a game at midnight would accomplish is that it would be sitting on my table at home until I get off work to play it the next day

Midnight launches are stupid, anyway.

I've always wondered if the pubs kick in towards one just to generate buzz.

If this were a totally brand new LoZ game built from the ground up instead of a HD regurgitation of a N64 game I could better understand the need/demand for a midnight launch/early open.

I am not interested in a remake of a game I already played. The new master quest can't even be unlocked until you beat the game once.

Only reason I bought this game was for the OST CD bonus. I was looking for the pre-order poster, but no one has them...
