Anyone else run into problems trying to register their copy to get the Soundtrack CD? First there was the website maintenance problem, then when you were able to get registering after going through that, the soundtrack cd order part was supposed to come up and you'd order the cd. No such luck. And this was right after it went on sale at Walmart. Thanks a lot Nintendo for nothing. A whole night shot. Anyone else have similar problems?

Yeah, I just registered it about ten minutes ago, but no CD prompt. There's about a dozen different active threads on the Nintendo support forums, and the NOA Mods are involved in them, so they are aware of the issue.
http://techforums.nintendo.com/thread/9627?tstart=0
I'm not all that surprised by it, especially since Club Nintendo always seems to crack up under high traffic situations (end of calendar year, special offers, etc.). I just think it's odd that they would bother putting up a prompt asking if you want the CD... of COURSE you do!
I'm sure it'll turn out fine, though it is a bit annoying.

I registered for the CD about 3 hours ago. I was so afraid of getting an error, but I was lucky to get the CD prompt, then got confirmation. It will be shipped within 1-2 weeks. I hope Nintendo fixes this for everyone else...

I heard something in Europe that error messages were coming up because all 2000 slots for CDs were filled, I wonder if the US is getting more than that or not?

That's not correct. They will be producing more than enough to cover requests, at least for the near future.

I have read an article from someone who spoke to a Nintendo spokesperson at E3 that Nintendo pressed enough CDs to cover pre-orders and the copies that would sell in first few weeks... I just don't think they expected everyone to register their copies all at once (though maybe they should have ;) )

I had the same error message and followed up with an email. I'm just going to try and be patient and hope they get the situation resolved. Anytime you put "limited supply" of anything you should expect a high volume of reponses. Nintendo is usually good at customer service, so I really hope my email suffices. Their phone lines are jammed just in case anyone was thinking to call.

I just got a pretty quick reply from the webform submission I sent in, and the rep already checked my account and saw that I had registered the game, all he requested was my shipping info so they could ship the CD out and asked what browser I was using (I guess so they can figure out what happened).

Damn. I honestly assumed they were just going to wait a week or so to see who registered then start pressing the CDs based on how many took up the offer, but I guess that wasn't the case. In other words, if you got the game and you want the CD, better hurry your ass up.

Very true, get on there now if you want it. What would upset me though, is if I bought on Amazon or somewhere else online. There's no mail on Sunday so they won't get it until Monday and therefore no CD.

I registered my game and got the sound track offer just fine, but to the people who didn't, I hear you should contact Nintendo's customer support and talk to them about it and they'll get you the sound track.

I suspect this message on the website is the doing of the weekend crew and that once the full office comes in tomorrow morning, this offer will go on well beyond the 20th. Those CDs cost less than a buck to press including packaging and it's not worth the headache to potentially offend everyone who won't get their game from Amazon or other retailers until later this week.

That's what I did. Kept trying till I got through, the lady took my info and a little bit later I got an email saying mine was all taken care of and will ship the week of July 5. What great customer service! Yeah!

I was able to register the PIN and take the survey, but of course no prompt of order history with confirmation was given to me. Being worried, I called Nintendo and the rep told me that everything looked great (verified my registration), except for the order was never placed.
The rep manually created an order and provided me with a confirmation email and PO#.
All is well now!

An alternate opinion after reading the rage on various forums...
I understand: Everyone has their "thing" and that thing might include game swag such as free soundtrack CD's. That's cool.
That being said, from a music appreciation standpoint...who the hell doesn't have these mp3's in their collection by now? I've had the OOT soundtrack on my iPod since 2003. Most OOT 3DS buyers probably had it years before that. Missing out on a CD full of songs you already have isn't the end of the world. Cheer up.

There's no reason they need to shortchange the people who are actually buying 3DS games like this considering NO ONE IS BUYING THEM. Why can't they print more of the CD's?
Or of course the other option: make a free digital download for everyone who bought it.

I hope you two went ahead and registered the game anyway because I saw this last night:
Thank you for your interest in this offer. All members who registered the game by 12:01am Pacific Time Tuesday, June 21, 2011 will receive the CD. Beyond this date, we will continue to send CDs to registrants on a first-come, first-serve basis, while supplies last. (https://club.nintendo.com/ocarina_of_time_3d_soundtrack_offer.do)

When I said Modern Nintendo lost their ways and no longer knows what they are doing on all counts, I have a little more evidence. Also, digital distribution sucks ass; give me a CD, a tape or an album over it any day.
Not producing enough of the CDs is the most recent move that shows Nintendo's lack of confidence in the consumer which will ultimately show lack of confidence towards Nintendo.

Yea, I just wish it was more concrete like Europe’s club Nintendo which states that, everyone that registers before June 30th will be guaranteed a soundtrack.
I would assume that our offer will be about the same but you never know with the “first-come, first-serve basis, while supplies last” wording.

What are you talking about? Because of a lot of misinformation around the web about this soundtrack allegedly being limited to 500 copies or 5,000 copies or whatever lies people made up, lots of people flooded Nintendo's website within the first few hours of the game being on-sale. As a result, their servers became overwhelmed. Despite this, everyone who registered in the first two days of release is guaranteed a copy and from what I understand, everyone else who registers within a reasonable period of time (i.e. the next few weeks) will get it as well. The CDs won't even ship out for two weeks, so it doesn't matter if Nintendo pressed ten or a million already, they will have plenty to ship out in two weeks. So, what exactly is the problem?

They should have expected the mass flooding for something like this. Nintendo knows that there are hundreds of thousands, if not millions of Zelda fans out there who were waiting for this. History repeats itself.
Let's look at the Super Mario All-Stars reiteration for the Wii. Stores were out within days of stocking... Nintendo even had to make a second print shortly following. I ordered mine on Amazon luckily, though they were suffering back orders, so it could have been cancelled there. Just saying Nintendo should prepare for these instances.

Well, from a business perspective, I don't think Nintendo could have anticipated this much demand for a re-release of an old game that has already been re-released on another fairly recent platform, especially among people that don't even own a 3ds or have intentions of buying one anytime soon. They also don't want to get stuck with a bunch of unsold inventory sitting there or being returned by retailers. Everyone who had a problem registering was helped quickly by Nintendo's phone customer service people and will get the soundtrack.
As for the SMAS situation, that game was readily available at retailers for several weeks and for some time after that. It wasn't until flippers and hoarders started grabbing them up that a problem was created. Nintendo did a reprint and now the game is readily available again.
I'm guessing you're not old enough to remember what it was like in the NES days when you literally had to get in line at a store in hopes of scoring a copy of Super Mario 3 or other big releases at full price. It sometimes took weeks for new stock to arrive. At least this game was readily avaiable everywhere and even came with discount bundling at Target, Best Buy and other retailers.

Thought it might be worth noting that I got a shipping confirmation yesterday afternoon. I put my code in before the deadline but never got a popup confirming my order, so I called a couple days after-the-fact and got it straightened out no problem.

If you want cheap looking, you should look up the original Nintendo Power release of the Ocarina soundtrack.

I got mine yesterday as well and in prefect shape. I am keeping mine sealed with plans to hoard it for years. I am not really into just listening to video game music and I'm sure there will be a .zip or .rar of the cd online after a while if I want to check out what those unused songs sound like.
I figure keeping this limited time thing sealed will pay off in the end. And I mean something like 10-15 years later when almost all of them have been opened.

For those interested, I did a combination box opening / comparison of the soundtrack. I compared it to the original Nintendo Power release of the soundtrack of the N64 version.

Same. I only sent an email to Nintendo with my issue and they responded twice and checked over everything. The soundtrack is very nicely done.

I received mine yesterday as well. However I had to open it because I could hear that the CD was sliding around inside the case. Sure enough. every one of the plastic bits in the center were broken off and all collected within the middle of the case. I dumped them out and just have the CD in the case for now. But I will need to find a replacement clear CD holder tray to put it into. Time to hit up a few stores and look for cheap but good condition DC games.
