Sorry to be off-topic, but I'm not on any more appropriate forums to ask about these, and I know there are some Magic players on here. So I bought a big box of magic cards at a garage sale for $5 for my neighbor who was into magic, but I guess not anymore because he didn't want them. So I'm now left to offload these. In the box were these two sealed packs. Can any of you tell me what they are and if they are worth selling separately from the 688 other cards? Thanks in advance!

I own a hobby shop (that in april will be turning into a hobby shop/video game store). WE ssell sports cards, magic and yugioh. I'm more knowledgeable on sports cards. But take a good educated guess. Those are Magic 2010 Starter Decks, intro pack or something to that nature. If you want to know about what cards you can keep, chuck ect, pm me I can give you the little insight I have.

They're land packs they might have some common/uncommon cards in them depending where they came from but more than likely it’s just lands and not worth anything, most card shops giveaway lands for free to new players.

I’ve been getting back into MTG and I could probably tell you if anything is worth selling separately or what the lot is worth if you want.

If its only 600 something cards it's probably only his commons and not worth much unless there were some deck boxes and folders in the lot that’s where the rares would normally be.

Basically like in your pic. where the M10 is, its black that means that it’s common, silver is uncommon, gold is rare, an orange-ish gold is a mythic rare and older cards might not of had anything there or every card had it black and you just had to know what rarity the card was.

bummer.

There's just too much stuff for me to bother listing, so I'm just going to describe the lot as I have here and start it at .99.

I looked up some cards here and there, and at least some were uncommon.

This is very good to know! nothing like that existed when I played, you had to just know or look stuff up like you said.

My knowledge about Magic cards is close to none but I always check for them when I'm out on my sale rounds, as some of them are worth quite a bit of money.

A friend of mine who is heavily into Magic card trading adviced me to always break open sealed packs just in case one of the rarer cards hide inside.

For reference Black Lotus can sell for thousands of dollars (A store here in Denmark buys them for 6,000 DKK).

If you decide to break them open, feel free to pm me a list of the cards and I'll pass it along to my friend for price suggestions.

i so regret selling my unlimited Black Lotus for 400 euro (7 years ago)

as far as I know (stopped 5 years ago) only old Beta/Alpha/Legends/Aribian Nights cards are really worth something.. the rest is pretty much garbage

If I had been offered €400 for it seven years ago I'd have sold it in a heartbeat as well. I don't think anyone back then would have believed the price would just keep going up.

I hope you spent the money wisely. Invested it in someth... Who am I kidding, I hope you bought yourself some booze and celebrated! :bday:

I bought cd's of that money, which are now completely and utterly worthless
