I just got the standalone version of SSFIV:AE for the PS3 and no matter what mode I try, the VS screen is as the game will go. I een tried turning the Arcade Edition mode off and whether it's the arcade mode, training mode or online mode, the game won't get pass the vs screen. I've even installed the game on to the hard drive and still nothing. Anyone else have this problem?

Did you try exchanging the game?

This is an add on for super street fighter IV. According to the download it says only works with super street fighter IV it is not a stand alone game. So you have to use it with super street fighters IV or else it won't work.

He's talking about the retail disc, not the download file. The disc should be a stand-alone version of the game.

*EDIT* Saw a report online that says if you delete any SFIV and SSFIV game data files (not save files) that should clear up the problem. Worth a shot.

*From my amazon review.*

I can confirm that deleting any previous Street Fighter data file and downloading the Super Street Fighter IV update has worked and the game is playable after that but considering that this is supposed to be a standalone version of this game and I had to do all that just to make it work, my rating will stand at one star. The whole purpose of the standalone version is to not have to deal with any downloads or have to do any tricks to get the game to play. This pretty much negates the whole reason for this release. They were better off just releasing DLC cards and having this as a DLC only option.

Bottom line, I still can't recommend this purchase.
