hey guys,

I was wondering if anyone here owned this little gadget. If so, what are your thoughts on it?

In particular, the screen size. Is it adequate, or too small? That's probably the one thing preventing me from going out and getting one now. I don't want to strain my eyesight anymore or end up going blind staring at a tiny little screen.

Everything I've read about the device has generally been positive, but I go back to the screen. In RPGS and other games, the text and characters are so small that it makes me wonder if I'll really enjoy playing my games on it. Especially since I sometimes play for hours on the go, will I end up with a headache from over straining my eyes?

thanks for you advice and input!

:)

The only problem I have with the unit is that the sound coming out of the speaker becomes distorted as you turn up the volume. If you are using headphones, the sound is ok. I cannot say about RPGS as I have not played any on the unit.

Hrm. Never noticed any distortion on the audio/volume.

Overall it's a nice portable NES. The screen is small but it's well lit you can read small text clearly, and doesn't suffer from any motion blur.

The system is a massive improvement over the FC Mobile 1.

It has the B/A buttons in the correct order and aesthetically it's a much nicer looking device.

I don't believe that they ever did any revisions on the hardware to fix the standard NES clone compatibility issues like Castlevania 3, et al.

Battery life is decent. You can get a few hours out of the standard AAs, and for indoor use it does include an AC adapter. Video out via composite is as good as any other Famiclone, but the IR sensor control pads are pretty terrible. I'm not sure about the light gun though, as I don't have a CRT TV to test that out on.

I don't believe that there's anything else on the horizon where portable NES clones are concerned, so if you're in the market for something that plays cartridges, it's the best option.

okay...it sounds like everyone is generally satisfied with the screen. I've also heard some concerns about the D-pad. The accuracy or control is a bit off because of its design...or something to that effect.

And with the Supaboy coming out, I was really curious if maybe another NES portable would be coming out. Maybe Yobo or someone else?...but I guess for now the FC Mobile 2 is the way to go??....

thanks sonicwolf! that was some very useful information...

would it be correct to assume that after all these years, you are still satisfied with your FC Mobile 2 and would give it the same glowing recommendation you did back then?

also, how often do you use it and how well has it held up after all these years?

thanks again and really appreciate your help!

I enjoy using the FC Mobile 2, but I have had more than one game ruined because the cart moved a little and the system lost connection. Maybe it is just my games, though. Anyone else have this problem? I'm very happy Hyperkin is including a cart lock on the SupaBoy. I may get that because the same thing has happened to me on the FC16Go v2.
